I'd have to agree that it makes no sense to leave all the precious metal and artifacts that Europe was plundering from the Americas on the seafloor in old wrecks.

I can't imagine the antikythera mechanism never having been discovered.

Besides treasure for it's value, there is a lot of history in these.
