5513
newb here... just wanted to post a pic of my recently acquired '70 5513, purchased from its original Navy owner who bought it at the PX aboard the aircraft carrier USS Oriskany in the Gulf of Tonkin... says he wore it for much of the 70's and then it spent most of its time in his dresser waiting for a new owner... after a gentle case/bezel clean-up and a crystal polish I'd say it's again ready for some active duty cheers, Peter |

thanks for the warm welcome, Guys & Dolls :)
I've been collecting watches the last 10 years (mostly vintage chronographs and divers) and I've owned a few vintage Rolex (6694, 1675) but this 5513 is really speaking to me... especially knowing its history plus the great original condition it's in...
I'm not sure if anything else is on the radar for the moment, but I sure like to watch (as Chance the Gardener once said :) Anyways, thanks for a great platform and I hope to be lurking and contributing some! Peter |

Peter, glad to see you here.
My contemporaneous 5513 says hi...Unfortunately I do not know its history, but being a 17-jewel model it had to have been sold originally in the US, although I ended up buying it from a dealer in Hong Kong!

Very nice Sub. I just worked with a guy that had his fathers GMT, he told me his father bought it in '69 while in the Navy.
The times must have changed, I don't remember seeing any Rolex's in the ship's store, I bought a Seiko. |

Great to see you here Peter! Beautiful 5513, with a great provenance!
I'm making do with my "poor man's" Rollie while I search for an affordable 5512/13. I wonder where "our" SM300 is?
