S for Service bracelet
Hi guys - I recently ordered a new Oyster bracelet through my AD. It came in the customary clear plastic packaging.
I've read that there's usually an 'S' stamped before the clasp code on replacement bracelets to indicate they're service parts, but there isn't one on mine. Any ideas as to why..? Is the 'S' stamped on replacement bracelets put on during RSC service only? The clasp code says CL12, which I think indicates December 2004. Sorry if this has been discussed here before. |

I have not heard this Anders. The only thing that I can add is that a replacement crystal will have an "S" inside the LEC.

My guess is that you are right and that since it was not replaced during service it does not get the S stamp.

Thanks for your replies Allan and Marcus!
Anyone who has purchased a replacement bracelet recently which has (or hasn't) got the extra 'S' ? |

was wondering if you can order the same date code as the one on your old clasp or if you have to take what they have.

I didn't ask actually but at least for some bracelet models you have to take what they have I think. Was hard enough to get the one I wanted with non-SELs.... Normally come with SELs these days.

nope, no s on the service bracelet (at least not one mine). i just got a new 78790a bracelet from the rolex service center, too. i examined the bracelet carefully, and no s stamped on anywhere. my watch is a r-serial, and the bracelet is letter code pj. so the watch and bracelet are about 20 years apart.

I asked the RSC Athens to change the oyster bracelet (78790A) of my 16710 with a jubilee (62510H with 502T end links) and the jubilee that the watchmaker installed to my 16710 it has a clasp code MA7 without the S.....

I'm not sure about the bracelet but I got a S on my service clasp.
DT11S means made in November 2002 and the S is for service.

Maybe the S will be added at the Rolex factory when a AD order it as a service claps?
