Of course it's possible to have it re-painted but since you can buy them, (any color in good condition) on e-bay and other places for $50 - $100 why bother.
Leo, $50 to $100 but, what quality? $350 is or was more inline with what I was seeing months back. Well maybe more like a year but.... again, you get what you pay for...

Juggernaut hope you learned your valued lesson and the moral is "sell it as is"!!

sorry man

$50-100 is the going rate for a used DJ dial.

This is probably why when you see a "re-dial" over an original Rolex dial, it has "diamonds galore" to make it profittable.

I like the idea of personalizing it. Now I need to buy a microscopic stenciling machine!

Leo is correct, a redial is more than a used one. DJ Silver and Champange dials are the cheapest ones.

Thanks, Jocke. I just thought it may be possible to re-apply the letters, costing less than a full replacement

Take the rest of the letters off.

Hand write Relox, mark through that and write Rolex under it.

That or wear it naked/letterless.

Looks like the paint is fine.

If it were my dial, I'd investigate etching it with a nice artwork. Or have an artist friend create a painting on it with appropriate paints. Or I'll have it skeletonized with a laser, so that the movement could be seen through the face. I would loose weeks of sleep trying to figure out the optimal "personalization"!

I like the idea of personlizing it. That would be cool . But this time get a professional to do the job

I'm not planning on spending any money or time on this "extra" dial. But it anyone's interesting in experimenting with it, I can send it to you really cheap, or perhaps we can trade for something...seriously...

let me know by PMing

I appreciate your posting this experience, bad as it may be. I just purchased a spare diamond dial for my blue 16613, and I may very well have tried cleaning it with alcohol had I not read this thread.

I'm thinking gasoline might work.....
