I had an M series Exp II with the 3186 and traded it up for a Z series GMT II. Even though I have the older 3185 movement, I can definitely sleep at night. I prefer the looks of the GMT.

yes
i have a V serial and adore it, its a great watch. If you search exp II in the tab at the top youll find some great threads on the watch, and some stunning photo's. You will also find how to establish if a particular watch has the 3185 or 3186 movement just by fully rotating the crown, i think its 4 revolutions for a 3186 will move the hour hand a full 12 hours (check as my memory isnt very good ) oh and good luck in your search

Right. General rule of thumb is that if it has the rehaut engraving it PROBABLY has the 3186 movement.

The conclusion is, I ask for V or M series at AD, is that correct to get the most updated model of Exp.2, right?

Explorer 2
I have a Z706XXX series Explorer 2. It does not have the rehaut engraving.
I believe it is one of the last Z series models without it which I personally prefer. I don't know if it has the 3186 movement. |

You had changed yourself the crystal, or... 'M' series omitted the date magnifier? it seems that the flat crystal is not bad.

Yea, jmsrolls, well done for this, sometimes I also feel the magnifier is disturb the view angle, change it to flat surface much better, and looks much more smart. RSC cost you much for this?

Crown test:
1 full turn of the crown=8 jumps for a 3186 an 5 jumps for a 3185. Also, the 4th hand of the 3185 will wiggle when jumping, while the 3186's will not. Hope this helps.

Thanks sakuraba, but I really don't get about 8 jumps(3186) and 5 jumps(3185), the hour and min. hands are smooth to go when wind the crown for my DJ, is that you mean the hands of Exp.2 is jump like a zombie when wind the crown? Thanks for more practical and helpful share!

As for your white EXPII, I would not recommend removing the Cyclops. The white dial sans Cyclops IMO is too bland a look. Fr. John† |
