getting the Panerai itch again - which GMT?
you know the feeling.... while im still very keen on a 210, something about the Luminor GMT has caught my eyes
done a quick research and there are a few variants of Luminor GMTs i can find - PAM088 - strap (MSRP £4.4K) PAM160 - steel bracelet (£4K) PAM161 - steel case, titanium bracelet (£5.9) PAM244 - different dial design to 88? (£4.3k) PAM297 - steel case, titanium& steel bracelet (£5k) so, my question is.... which one is "more popular" and in turn will "retain" more value in the future? im thinking of getting a PAM160 instead of the PAM088 (but i do preefer the 88 dial design though), so i have a Panerai bracelet (it is so damn expensive to buy seperately), and i can change to straps to mix it up. another thing with the 160 is that the pre-owned price seems to be higher than the pre-owned price of the 88 (according to the website im ckecking atm).. is that the real case? then again... there is a PAM355 (sexy piece though, but no idea what the £ is... i have a feeling it is more than any of the ones above) what are you opinions and suggestions, thanks? |

may i recommend the 2010 Special Edition PAM0029 Luminor GMT
the center sweeping second hand is rather unique.

is it me or does it look like an EXPII on leather strap? i think i still prefer the non-special edition versions (why, and i mean why do they put a cyclops over the date window.. ) |

Theres also the 320.
1950's case, sandwich dial, new in house automatic movement. Think rrp is £5000. I like the Pam 29 a lot. |

i like the simple design, but one issue i have with it is the non-24 hours GMT feature and no am/pm indicator. |

I would recommend any GMT with a 1950 case.. Its my personal preference.. However the Pam 088 is very popular amongst panerai fans.

What about Pam 275, 233, 311? All GMT's with in-house 8-day movements.

Beauty about those is that they're only GMT when they need to be, as the 2nd timezone hand can be hidden behind the main hour hand, thus cleaning up the dial. Oh, and the 289 too...

i have a 320. am absolutely loving despite that it lacks a am/pm indicator
honestly, u don't really need it to tell u the 2nd time zone. just the gmt hand will suffice |

I had the 320 but now have the 233. Love both of them and either would be a great choice. I didn't think the non-24h GMT on the 320 was a deal breaker, and like everyone said the 1950 case is amazing.
Ended up with the 233 though as I couldn't get away from the 8-day and superdome. Good luck with your search! Cheers, James |

No arguement from me about the 88. This one has been around the horn.
Speaking of Horn (as in Mike), if you can find one of these I'd go for it. Not a reference you see much (500) and has a unique history. I'm with Lee on the 29--it will be mine. |

yeah, i get what you mean. as much as i would like a 210 now, i just can not get hold of one here. they are just not getting delivered soon enough.... and its kinda exciting to "bump into" a Panerai you like out of no where thats how i got my 000

as for the horn (500), it is nice, but i do prefer the 88 tbh |

24 or 12 hours GMT?
Hi,
I don't know did you notice one difference among Panerai GMTs, some are 24 hours GMT (like 88...) and some are 12 hours GMT (like 320...). With 12 hours GMT you can "hide" GMT hand when you don't need it, but you can't tell AM/PM. |

thanks guys.
i thought PAM098 (discountiuned)/PAM355 was an interesting design. just not too sure about the 42mm case - is it as "popular" as the 40mm Luminors? |

to be honest, I would NOT buy a GMT
Panerai is a brand where you only buy the simple models 2 or max 3 hands, NO COMPLICATIONS ! |

Eric, my vote is for a 233. 'Hideable' GMT hand with a separate AM/PM indicator, in-house 8-day movement, REAL hacking seconds (when hacked, it jumps to zero), date that can be adjusted either way, 1950's case, sandwich dial... Get to the bad part! At the moment the market is quite soft on them, so one can be obtained at a very reasonable cost. Got rid of mine and somewhat regret it....

Ummmm.... No. No brand delivers complications as clean and elegant as Panerai.
