I saw a ceramic sub in a UK AD's window today at RRP...is the demand for this watch really so low already?...I was quite amazed when I saw it..

Maybe.
To be fair though... UK was one of the last countries to officially release the Sub-C, so many people have opted to buy it from other countries and you don't get many EU people buying from the UK because they can get it from their country much earlier than the UK.
Also, the recession and the fact that Christmas is almost here may have play a part also... It isn't easy to drop almost £5k on a watch thesedays....

I'm sure Chris will have a better reasons/theories for us :-)

If there was a waiting list for it, then maybe those on it didn't want to take it for one reason or another:

1) They were on other lists, and bought it already
2) They just wanted to see the watch
3) They saw the watch, and didn't like it
4) They couldn't afford it at this moment of time
5) They were just timewasting

I've not seen any LVs myself in windows on my travels, and the one we've had was only on site for 48 hours before it was given a new home (to someone on the waiting list, might I add). The fact that one LV is in the window of one AD isn't a good indicator of whether the watch is popular or not - remember that it is also a very tough financial situation out there, and a lot of people are going to be thinking twice about splashing £5k on a watch, especially with the threat of a double dip recession looming over our heads.

Give the LV a chance, it's only been available to the public in this country for less than a month. It's very, very early days

The only AD in Philly has been only selling them to favored customers. Said I could probably see one next year.

They don't look much different to the general public other than the fact they are more expensive. Unless there is a WIS in the vicinity they don't appear to fly off the shelves.

I agree, I think the similarity to the old model doesn't necessarily attract people except for the LV and they don't seem to be sitting on the shelf.

i was in cyprus last week and an AD there had both the black and the LV in the case.

Indeed probably the black although someone on another forum has seen both old and new LV's in a UK AD's window recently. I have had both LN and LV and decided to keep the LV only. Also London grey dealers have been much more successful at selling the LV for a premium than the LN.

Yes I believe the situation is similar in S'pore - the new all-green ceramic Sub is in slightly greater demand than the black, so there's still a small premium.

From that thread, I gather the premium over the list price of SGD10,900 is now only about $600. ADs may still be charging a $2k premium but not the grey market.

When I bought my 16610LV last month, my AD had a 116610LV in the window. It was there for a while.

ah, pretty true. 600 bucks vs a 10.9k watch is indeed a small premium to some. lets hope i falls to at least without premium soon. but in view of the Euro picking up again, I doubt it will be anytime soon

There's been a Sea Dweller sitting in Goldsmiths London window for as long as I can remember. Very snooty sales types there.

It's time the UK voted with their wallets for production Steel Sports.

It's laughable that you can buy a Steel Daytona at list in certain US AD's but here we get looked at like we just landed from the moon should we enquire. I'm not a sheep and whilst I wanted a SSD I've sort of changed my mind. Buying into the UK Steel Daytona scam makes me think that the jokes on me.

I'll pass and let some other lucky guy have that "rare" watch.. My Steel Sub Date has served me well for 13 years and will continue to do so.

I have some rare/collectible stuff stashed which has taken years to accrue and a 2010 Steel Rolex will never ever be one of those...

I admire Rolex's image and marketing power. But they don't want to get too big for their boots. Mind you there's always a new young punter keen to show the world how succesfull he is!!
