Thoughts on the Fortis watch please

I was wondering what the thoughts were here on the Rolex Forum of the Fortis watch. From what I can find, it is an old and reputable company.

While I like their marine watches a lot, the one that has caught my eye is the very simple looking Fortis Flieger. It has a 40 mm brushed case, a black leather strap and a clean look to it. Thoughts? Cheers, Bill P.

I've purchased, and sold atleast 20 Fortis watches. My best friend has a Flieger, and loves it. The B-42 marinemaster, and Chrono models are wonderful. That's what the Russian cosmonautes wear.

My only dislike on that model is the crown having sharp corners. It dug into the back of my hand. Other than that, they are made very well.

You can ALWAYS find them for a great price on timezone.com

I picked up a near mint B-42 Marine master for $650 last year. Another friend purchased it for the same price, and is very proud of it.

I also had one with a complete lume dial. You could cast a shadow in the dark it was so bright.

I would rate the brand at 95%

100% if the crown didn't rub a spot on my skin

Thanks for the info. Paul. I did buy the one I was watching on the WUS sales forum. I am enjoying the look, feel and size of the watch. Cheers, Bill P.

Great watches. The Flieger and the Marinemaster are my favorites.

You should check out the following Fortis thread. While I realize any watch company can produce a 'lemon' here & there, my one & only experience w/ Fortis years ago was just that. Specifically, check out post #3 to see what I'm talking about.

Good luck w/ yours...odds are you'll never have to deal w/ this nightmare (knock on wood). Cheers!

Very good watches, with design that resembles IWC pilot`s, and powered with reliable ETA movements. My friend have Spacematic Day Date (ETA 2836-2), and it`virtually indestructible watch!
If you like their design, you cannot go wrong with watch that officially equips Russsian cosmonauts!
