Just got the same reply as Eric from my AD.

I'd be most surprised if the whispers amount to anything.

The new USA price increase brings prices on a par with the UK price come Jan's VAT hike so there's no point in creating another price disparage.

ADs will always be given prior notice before a price rise - nothing's been sent to the shop, which reinforces my belief that any price rise will coincide with the VAT increase

It's the 1st Oct and still no sign? This is getting a bit weird. I reckon we're in for a massive rise very soon. It's a bit too quiet.

Chris, does the price increase affect the 3 newly released pieces or does it apply across the whole range? (ie. Sub-C, LV-C and 39mm Exp I)

7% Wow!

Do any other companies that you know of (watch related or not) increase their prices so much and so regularly?

yep, JLC, VC, AP, Omega, Breitling, Panerai and the list goes on.

from memory, only Zenith have "reduced" their prices back to their 1995/7 (?) prices after the new CEO came on board... to bring Zenith "back alive"
(need to refer back to the article for more facts)

Cool, thanks. I havent really paid much attention the the RRP of other brands.

I suppose there aint much we can do about it if most of the other upscale brands do the same.

I believe it affects the entire range, including the recently launched models

Nope, that's Rolex for you. It has been quite some time since the last one though, must be 12/18 months now, surely?

i rememebred there were 2 in 2008/2009 due to the weak GBP against the rest of the world, especially the Euro... then there was the 2.5% VAT increase in Jan this year...

Sounds right, I do remember that. Prices have gone up a hell of a lot in the past couple of years: I remember when I first started at the shop, the GMT IIc was £3600 - after this price rise, we're probably looking at £4700 for it (haven't seen the new price list myself yet)
