The other day I was doing some work at home with my laptop when accidentally I strike my 16610LV with a glass table, I tought... "In what way can a glass table harm my Sub"? So I didn't panic.

The next morning while polishing my Sub, I noticed that there was a very minimal imperfection on the "center-to-brushed" area of the lower right lug, very small, almost invisible "at first glance" and to the untrained eye, but enought to reflect light in a way that "bothers and reminds" me what happened.

Sorry for the bad quality low resolution picture from a Blackberry, but if you fine-tune your eyes you will see the gash.

Will this gash be easily and totally removed in the future while at the RSC for the 5th year recomended overhaul?

Yup I see it.. it is huge.. the watch will start to break soon from the bump.

It looks good to me.. the RSC will make it look new... or you can always take it to a certified watchmaker for a quick polish just on that place, it is up to you..

I can see it, but to be honest I wouldn't worry about it at all... yes it's there, but unless you want to send it off for a polish there really isn't much you can do about it.

Most of my watches have got minor dings, but I love them all the same

BTW What is it they say, the first cut is the deepest

I normally wrap my watch in shrink plastic wrap to avoid these accidents. I make sure I use the a packaging tape to make sure the plastic wrap's secure. Magic tape won't do.
Nah, it's quite tiny, you'll be alright.

samething happened to me when i got my sub c... i had an aluminum macbook and it brushed against the clasp. scratched. oh well... it will go away in 5 years when i get it serviced!

It is always good to count on the "Brothers at Wrists" that know for sure what one's experience and sentiments are on this matters.

Not as bad as the brick wall that decided to attack my new Breitling SuperOcean as I was walking next to it. The crystal was unharmed, but the bezel has some nice, deep marks at 5 and 35...oh well, lesson learned.

It'll polish up quite nicely and easily. Not really sure "gash" is the proper term though.

I can't see anything but a fine looking watch!!!

Enjoy your watch, nothing lasts forever, having a few marks just adds character. I'll take some macro shots of my DSSD's scratches for you after dinner if it makes you feel better?

I have a headache from squinting so much trying to see this gash. Therefore, if it is so small that I can't really tell there is a gash, I would not sweat it. Of course, you could make an equal size gash on the other lugs and then it will look like it belongs there. I don't really know what else to say about this.

Don't tell me. You took the watch out of its box, didn't you?

I guess you didn't read the part in the instruction manual that said to never under any circumstances take a Submariner out of its box.

If you use the watch the way it was intended, you'll get some more and as has been pointed out, RSC will make it new again.

I can't see it even with the arrow. I had a BIG gash on mine when I fell and hit the pavement. It was polished out which amazed me because of how big it was.
