My local AD has for sale a 5513, no date. He can't put an exact date on it but says late 60's . It's been serviced by rolex with new acrylic crystal,and dial. He's asking 4k price negotiable. What are these selling for ,is that a good price? Does the service lower or raise the value? Thanks for any help

6744623, he just said the dial was a new acrylic dial from rolex. Thanks for the help clay

Looking at the 6 million serial number, I think that dates it to early 80's . Does that seem Right?

You are correct, 6.7 is the early 80's....and should come with a matte dial. The luminova dial, if that is indeed what is on the watch, is a service replacement with hurts the overall value. The watch is no longer "all original" so 4K is an OK price, and on the high side IMO. I may offer a little under and see what he says. Does it come with anything? Box, papers or service papers?

I think I would walk away...There is no shortage of nice 5513's out there....

..the real question is how do guys buy and sell so many vintage watches? I can't figure out how they make any money doing that.

I don't think that would make it "original", original for me means the way it came out of the factory.

Your right, I have the same feelings, if you can't tell if it's been put together or completely original..it would command the same price and buyers would never know the difference. I don't know what sellers do though??

Usually a trusted seller will tell you what has been replaced or if it's all original.

If the 5513 was serviced by Rolex, then it would have a proper service replacement dial on it........ You did say that this is at an AD, right....

I would check to ensure that the bracelet has little wear (it too may have been replaced at service), negotiate a little bit, then buy it.......

The thing about 5513's is that they will never be made again. Also eventually, all will need a service dial, some just sooner than others...

If you want a little bit of Rolex history, and one of the icons in the watch world............ go for it......

I'd sooner buy this one than the one for sale by any high end jewelery store.
If it serviced and done by Rolex it is still Rolex.
If you factor in the cost of service and replacement dial the $4K price tag is not so bad.

Really no chance of a picture, sorry guys. It's a 5513, he got on a trade-in. The watch got a new band and dial. It looks almost new.
