Sorry, this is nerdy and stupid.

OK, so I have a P series Sub. Lugholes. Nothing special. The four on the bezel has a flattened-off top, but now they are sharp, like this: 4. So when/why did this 4 change happen?

I have an 03 LV with flat four--Mark 1 dial. I am pretty sure it changed later that year--so late 03-04 is my guess.

I've never seen a sharp top on the number four on any Sub bezel.

I'm thinking they are referring to the area INSIDE the four.....Sharp in mine, and flat in theirs.....Some clarification please, as I was somewhat confused myself!

Their hands are tied by legislation, hence the change from radioactive based paints to light activated paints. They're inherently not as powerful as they don't have a constant activation agent.

As for the fours, my thinking is that they probably just got a new machine for making the bezels a few years back

Ask the OP. I think it is an interesting piece of Rolex history much like any other dial or bezel change. The good thing about TRF is one can ask any question and get an answer- some right and some wrong but always an answer!!

Just idle curiosity on my part. I spent some time wondering what a "flat-four" was (Subaru?) before realising I had one on my wrist.
