Icon9 Disappointed that 116610LV does not have "green-ish" lume.. (am I the only one?!?)

(posted this at TKF while TRF was offline last night..)

unlike the 16610LV....

would've thought a "green-ish" lume would go well against the "Green Gold Dial" and "Green Cerachrom Bezel Insert"

what do you think?

Well Eric, during night you can switch to the 116610LN that better matches the blue lume color ...

I think the blue lume looks great! But agree a green lume may match better.

Well IMHO the lume colour is not all that important in any watch and afraid its not even a Green gold dial but its just coated.

understand where you are coming from Peter, i was just ranting about the mis-colour matching effort from Rolex. i suppose a "stronger" or "longer lasting lume" would be a more important issue for Rolex and Rolex watch owners

as for the green gold dial -yes, it is not a real "750" gold piece, but a rather PVD'd aluminium disc instead

I don't care about the color, I care about the lume strength and longevity.

I'm with you Eric, I think the green lume would have been much better on an all green watch.

I know you will have some people saying it doesn't effect the performance of the watch etc and they are the proverbial 'tool' watch and it doesn't matter what colour it is, but I just think it's these small attention to details that let Rolex down.

Perhaps it was not thought through, or decided it would not be cost effective to have green lume on the new green sub C's, but it just reminds me of the fact Rolex are just a mass produced mid range watch.

You are right, Eric,

it would have been much more harmonic with the green lume on a green watch....

Blue and green don't go together, that is what mother told me in my early days when I had to chose a shirt...

In the dark, all you see is the lume, anyway, no?

that is correct.

the difference is that - other people will probably have no idea which watch you are wearing, BUT you will know/remember which watch you are wearing at the time, no?

Not always,
Quite often if you have gone indoors from a sunny outside the lume glows. You would then see a green watch with blue lume.

I also don't understand why Rolex put blume lume on the green dial. What's done is done. I would still buy the green dial if I could afford it.

Does the green lume appear brighter than the blue one?

How about real world experience? ;-)

The reason I asked was because in the case of Omega SMP, the green lume used in blue bond is brighter than the blue lume used in black bond.

So i wonder if its the same for Rolex

not sure - maybe the reason that green lume looks brighter against the blue dial is because of the colour contrast.

now im wondering what colour lume on the WG Smurf and the TT Blue Sub? Blue? (lucky b@stards...)

The blue lume is superior and just plain looks better...as well as is more easy to read in the underwater environment for which is was designed

You cant see the dial or bezel in the dark... so I think the blue is perfect. It looks better than the green in my opinion. Blue and green are complimentary colors, so it works either way.

I have green maxi lume markers on my Yachtmaster - want to trade? haha

One way to solve this would be sourcing a maxi dial from a 16610LV and replacing yours on the green Sub-C with that!
