Daytona Gold/SG vs SS
Hey Guys,
My AD told me that the reason there is usually a waiting time for SS Daytona is because it is produced way less than Gold models, not because it is the cheaper variant. As it is produced less it is more of a "classic" model compared to gold, steel gold ones., hence a waiting list. Logic says, as a seller, the AD should push the available and more expensive model to the customer, but after a long chat he hinted that if i really want an SS he can maybe find one in a reasonable waiting time. So he was not trying to persuade me to buy gold ones as they are available. Depending on that, i seem to believe him that SS's are a "better" choice as it is more of a "collectible". Do you agree on that statement, at least first part. btw, i prefer SS, not much of a gold guy, and if they are rarer, better... cheers.. |

It certainly seems like the steel/gold models are more readily available, though the steel has become easier to find as of late (there are several recent threads on this).
It's interesting to me that gray market prices for new watches can be lower for the steel/gold Daytona than for all steel. I can't think of any other Rolex where that's the case. |
