Leopard Daytona

What do people think of this watch?

I stopped by the AD today and they had just gotten one of these in and asked if I wanted to try it on.

A little gaudy for my taste but a very striking watch - leopard print dial, a bunch of diamonds between the lugs on top and bottom, diamond hour markers, a bezel made of some kind of greenish gems, and a leopard print strap. I didn't look at the price tag but north of $50k I'm sure.

It's not a watch that I would wear, my AD likes them because they sell very quickly.

Well if they sell quickly then I'm sure the ADs love them, probably as much profit as 5-10 more typical Rolexes.

Not my cup of tea but the craftsmanship of the stone setting, etc is amazing to look at

That's a good way of putting it - not a watch I'd buy myself, but it's a work of art in terms of the craftmanship.

I have seen it on a lady and it looked striking. Not really sure it would suit men.

They don't sit long, usually purchased by ladies.

I know a lady that has 1 and she loves it. Shes in her 60's and it was her 1st Rolex. She told me she saw it in a magazine while getting her hair done and figured she would go get it. In her mind she said maybe 500 Euros. LOL She tried it on and then asked how much they told her and she told me you know what Nick we cant take it with us when we go so I just bought it. After wearing it for 2 years she said its the best thing shes ever bought for herself. To each his own but its a nice watch. Here is a pic from the net

One thing I noticed was it was hard to tell the time on that watch. I figure buyers view it as jewelry and don't care much about about how legible the dial is.

Also the strap is a good deal smaller than the standard Daytona bracelet, consistent with the observations above that many buyers are ladies.

A niche watch that not everyone will like to be sure, but a striking design IMO.

I saw one in person while in Vegas. It was at the Wynn. Not my cup of tea, but now I can say I saw one in person.

Yea, not ever ever ever ever for a man - maybe for a woman, but still horribly gaudy.

Definitely not my cup of tea, and I would never wear it in a million years...o.k., maybe I will if I change my name to Elton or something like that....

Now seriously, I respect craftmanship that must be used in creating such fashion statement, and IMHO it doesn`t have much to do with watch business itself.
It`s high concept of fashion, and as it is, it deserves sincere respect.
