help with GMT II pricing

I hope this doesn't violate TRF guidelines...if so any responses via PM would be appreciated.

I got offered a pre-owned GMT Master II 16710 coke bezel from a private seller for $3980. Its got box and papers & he's not the original owner. He's got good Ebay feedback but no forum references. Condition appears to be TZ "very good" to maybe "excellent". Is this a good price? If not, what would be a good price?

From what I've seen, Rolex pricing tends to be pretty efficient, but the prices I've seen on preowned GMTs have been all over the place. I've been getting conflicting info from dealers.

Thanks!

Seems fair to me. How old/what serial letter is it?

Sounds about in line with what they're going for now. I sold a D serial (very gooe condition with all boxes and papers) with coke and Pepsi for $3850 about a year and a half ago. Prices have gone up since then.

Not sure what year "D" is but if it has SEL [solid end links] and lug holes I'd jump at it, as I prefer that combo.
Price sounds reasonable to me, assuming it's all original and in excellent condition.

D is around 2005. I have a D. No lug holes, but SELs.

I have seen cherry examples lwith provenance for sale for about $4600+

A good deal... I recently bought serviced F serial (2003) pepsi for 4700.!
A little high, but reputable dealer, and I had to have it. And, it seems the prices just keep going up. I love it, and no looking back...

I got some detailed pictures of this GMT and there are some dings on the bottom of the left side of the case. I don't think these will polish out. Should I pass on the watch or does it still seems like a good deal?

Personally, I prefer my own dings! How is stretch on band? Looking for evidence of rough wear... you may need to factor in RSC service (~550.) for "complete" pricing.
