If you have one of the first generation (flat four) please share some pictures with us.
The watch is nice, not nicer than a later edition with non flat four but since it is so rare I want to see a lot of them :-)

I searched between a lot of thread about the 16610LV but I was amazed that I barely found these flat four subs

Those who have one, did you buy it when it came out (end 2003- early 2004) or did you buy it recently because you were hunting for this first generation

Look at the 40 on the bezel. the 4 looks different from other green subs.
Also the green bezel insert is not the same green, later generation LV's have a darker green bezel

Here's mine and they only came in the early versions of the LV. Mine is an early F series.

I've had a Y series from sept 2003 and an M series from 2008. Sold both of them with no regret. Great watch but never got along with the green.

The Y series was rare and IHMO will become collectible along with the early F's as I have seen others consider these the "true" anniversary watch. Just pulled the trigger on an early F yesterday. It is from December 2003.

Need to figure out how to post pics. Will post when I do so. (Have some holiday shopping to get done today)

BTW, first time I have heard them referred to as Flat Four's. I have also heard them described as "Oval O's" due to the shape of the "O" in the word Rolex on the dial.Wonder which name will stick?

Mark 1 IMHO. As for price of them--they have already sky rocketed in price vs. others!!! And--there are rarely any for sale--especially 100% complete sets.

late Y or early F makes no difference at all. If your flat four is from late 2003 or begin 2004, it is the same watch

As long as it is an early F--For example-Serial 02xxxx you are correct. Regardless- all of the Mark 1's have flat 4's on bezel and the larger insert which came only on the Y/early F and that differentiates it from the rest.

The one I placed a down payment on yesterday is a V series, didn't have any knowledge of the Flat four when doing so or the different color of bezel early vs late.

However I still look forward to picking it up. I look forward to having the LV, and even more importantly adding a Sub to my collection.

no problme, they are all great

but if you would find a flat four for a good price that would be a big bonus

There still are some guys that don't know there is a difference but when people know the difference, be prepared to pay 2000 usd more
