I also think its time the makers of Bond dropped Omega and went back to Rolex - but they won't because Omega pay them for the product placement.

A Sub ND as he's worn in the past. He'd use something functional and subtle. Actually, he'd probably wear a P.O. and leave the jewelry for those who need something much more obvious.

A modern Bond probably wouldn't wear any of the above, I would wager he would wear a G-Shock with Waveceptor - perfectly accurate, can take a beating, and ultimately cheap and disposable. Rolex was the tool watch of choice at the time Fleming was writing, G-Shock is today's tool watch of choice

I like this post, and Chris makes a good point. But what about the "elegant" Bond - the one in the tuxedo? Does he wear the G-Shock?

That's the more interesting point. Bond was public-school educated, so something classic and timeless would be suitable - maybe a Patek or a classic Cartier Tank. Something on leather, anyway, I would think

Exactly what I was thinking. My guess is that the Bond of today would have at least two watches - one for action, and one for "action".

Sub ND seems to be top of the pile so far but keep em coming. I also like allan-rollers idea of the Gold DD for Tuxedo duty. Definitely think Bond would be a two watch kind of guy.
Maybe he would have a suitcase from Q branch tucked under his bed full of all the watches from earlier missions, imagine that lot hitting ebay. Starting to dream a little now so back to your ideas.....

The problem with the GMT, unless he kept the hand at GMT, is that it gives away information about your "home" time to an onlooker. Not good for a spy. Of course, it's easy to remember your timezone, so something with a countdown/countup bezel I would guess. Too big and flashy (reflective) is a problem, so no DSSD. Probably black plastic G with all the bells and whistles. It's the king with the US military for a reason. (and it's cheap too)

I'm basing this on the literary Bond instead of the movie Bond. He wore a Rolex not because it was prestigious, but because it was pretty much the most rugged and reliable watch available at the time. The G-Shock is the modern equivalent to the 50's Rolex in this aspect, the fact that many active military personnel use them today attest to that
