1 AP ROO vs SubC + SS Daytona vs WG Daytona
For the similar spend, I could get the abovementioned watches.
The ROO is my grail. However I do question it's value considering what I can get as alternatives. I do love the other watches esp the SubC. The only thing stopping me from buying it is it does not represent enough differentiation to my SD. I like the Daytona but not as much as the SubC. However, I really like the WG Daytona a lot. Anyway enough waffling from me, I am wondering which would you choose? |

If the Roo is your Grail and it's in reach..then get it IMO..
I am a big fan of the wg daytona.....but would rather go Roo + SS daytona.

If you want a ROO it will be an expensive mistake to buy something else. Get the one you want the most.
BTW- I love my ROO. |

Thanks all for the replies. My gut tells me to get the AP and that's probably what I will end up getting. I liken watches to cars (my other vice). Too many cars I want to drive and own but alas you can only drive one at any given time!

I've tried the Diver on and I can see it being my daily. I am guessing the Volcano will strictly be a casual watch (haven't tried it on yet). I think it's a really cool looking watch. I really love the look of black dialled 37mm ROOC but they don't come in the "regular" size. It's listed under the Ladies ROO in the AP catalogue but I don't really care. I'd still buy it. |

Volcano is a stunner...the AD here has the Safari and Blue themes and they all look amazing. After the Panda, Blue is my next favourite.
The diver also looks awesome and you can buy it relatively cheaply (compared to Aus) from a few sellers here. |

Yeah, I do like the ROC. But it's the Offshore models that really calls out to me. Strictly speaking, I would only buy a WG Daytona. I threw in the SS Daytona to give some perspective to the value equation. And yes, I realise the WG Daytona is the most expensive watch in the said group!

I went to an AD and tried on the ROO for the first time today.... all i have to say is that its amazing. I had compared it next to my Daytona side by side... I can see why you have this delima. I think for me, I have always wanted the Daytona bec of its history, racing, Paul Newam, and the fact that its the only chronograph watch that Rolex makes. In the end, if you try both watch on, I think you will know which one sings to you more. After today... I am pretty sure that I will one day get the AP ROO... but Daytona is still the watch for me. I wish you luck with your decision... but i know in the end any of these watchs will make you very happy~

I too like the ROO Offshore series Especially the blue theme ones
I wish I could say the Volcano is just too much orange, but I learned a long time ago not to judge a watch until you can slap it on your wrist. I just wish the Hour Glass would put some on display up here in sunny Qld, for us curious consumers to overview and handle. Just curious, would you consider an Offshore with a SS Bracelet?

I wear my SD everyday, you could call it my beater. I have an 18k Sub with bracelet for my After Hours wear. The only watch on a leather strap I really liked and have had the pleasure of wearing, only briefly, was the RG IWC Big Pilot But hey, whatever turns your dial Rob

I agree get your grail. Once you get it you may want something else, but we often want what we don't have.

I was in the same position recently and opted for the WG daytona. Nothing like the feeling of gold on your wrist. I would get the WG first and the rose gold ROO later!

If the ROO is your grail...........
and you have the funds available then you should go for it. You could add a ss Rolex to compliment it.
AP is second to none IMO on every level. I've owned many APs and many Rolex but there is a seperation when it comes to the hand finishing on an AP. Just my thought. Of course a WG Daytona ain't too shabby either Nice position to be in on your part. Let us know when you decide. |
