Is 2 explorers 2 too much of exploration ?
I have a black explorer 2 with new novement. I like it a lot. I bought it before the price increase for 3 600 euros on the grey market. Now the same watch is sold 4 250 euros by the same seller. So good deal.
The same seller is selling now a second hand white explorer 2 from 2008 (with the old movement so) in "new" shape. The watch was sold buy an AD in 2010 and is therefore under Rolex warranty till 2012. The price is 3 400 euros. My questions are : 1) Is 2 explorers 2 too much ? 2) Is the price a good price ? 3) Would you buy an explorer 2 with the old movement or prefer the new one because it may hold its value better in a few years . Thanks |

I think that if there is a Black Explorer II, and a white Explorer II, then having 2 is the correct number... or more...
And at least one of them should have a clear case-back....

Of course it`s not too much, white one is very beautiful watch, and only sport Rolex with white dial.
About movement...well, it`s basically the same, I really don`t think that there will be any difference in keeping value for both of them. And check out Larry`s pics, I mean...what is better than Explorer II? TWO Explorers II of course!

Alot of people have more than one Sub, or Sea Dweller, or even GMT.
I am considering getting either a vintage Sub or GMT and I already have a modern one of each. Whatever trips your trigger, only you can decide. |

No such thing as too much exploration! If you can afford it, buy it :) I think it would compliment the black exp II

I checked online and never found any shop. I know that the movement is the same but if you look at the prices of the GMT2, there is a big difference of price between the old and new movement. So may be that one the explorer 2 is discontinued, it will be similar ? (cuo sam da u hnez Miheolovu ima neka radnja sto prodaje dobre marke, ne znam da li imaju Rolex ali ne odgovaraju na email !) |

Buy the watches you like and have fun doing it. I really like the white dial on the Explorer II so one in each color would be cool. As for one movement being more collectable over the other one...they made quite a few of both movements so neither are going to be rare. Now as for price...I have no idea what your market is like in Europe!!!

Can't see any problem with having two. I have a black with latest movement and an earlier white - too.

Sve najbolje, all the best!

I think that it`s cheaper here, but I`m not 100% sure. I was at AD before prices increase, so I really don`t know how much is it now.
And I never saw SS Daytona in Belgrade`s AD. Anyway...have you consider buying used or grey market Explorer II?

With 8 Daytonas, the taxman will see nothing unless the buyer who will buy from me is caught by the custom when he travels. Is there inly 1 AD in Serbia ? |

The new movement, is really a minor enhancement to the existing movement and is more of a marketing ploy IMO. Nothing wrong with the 3185. The new parachrome spring is a nice feature, but the improvement in the hour movement is lost on me. I have had a number of both variants and have not been able to tell the difference in operation. That is what the "II" stands for in Explorer II. You should own two. The price is good, and being already in the EU is a big plus.

I don't know the letter, the seller just tells that it is from 2008 and has Rolex papers. I asked a discount as it was the old movement, he didn't tell me that it was the new one and agreed to give me 100 euros off. The seller is a grey dealer. He didn't open the watch so. Are you sure that all watches from 2008 have the new movement ? Quote:

But do I really like white snow ? I find the dial a little empty in real life. That's why I took the black last time. |

2. In Europe, it sounds like a good price for a LNIB. 3. Both calibers are very good. I would not be bothered, and would say that the value will not be based on the caliber. Both watches will be serviced by RSC for many, many years ahead. Best, A |
