Bezel question

Anyone know what a yellow gold domed bezel for a DJ would cost? If you wanted to buy a new one from an AD, would they take your fluted one in trade? Do these bezels change as easily as say, a GMT? IMO, they give the watch an elegant, understated look.

I do not think the AD would take the fluted one in trade. A gold domed bezel would cost you around US 600 Dollars, I think (just a guess).

I don't think any US AD can just order up a part, install it, and take the old one in trade in order to customize a Rolex.

I think the watchmaker with a Rolex parts account can order certain parts and maybe a bracelet link or two, but swapping one bezel for another type is verbotten in the land of Rolex USA.

In order to accomplish what you're trying to do, I suspect you'll find yourself on the secondary marketplace...want to buy parts listings and auction sites, unless you want to travel to someplace like Hong Kong, where the official Rolex distributor is a bit more liberal in these kinds of matters.

I'm under the impression that Rolex USA will almost never allow or sanction anything that makes one of its precious little timepieces anything than what it was when it left the factory, except for a dial swap or hand or bracelet replacement because of age and wear.

I think they would take your old fluted in on a trade. I tried to source one to buy straight out a few years ago in 2004. Found one person whom I could buy from outright for $400, a watch repair guy.

Another guy from another forum said he could gets parts but wanted 1075.00 just for the bezel. Ouch!

I'm sure it will be over $400 but if yu want the name of the watch guy let me know.
