what do you think?

So I was at a jewlery store the other day. They are not an AD but they sell pre-owned Rolex. While there I talked to the owner. he told me he can get whatever i am looking for. During this conversation he told me he gets his watches serviced by a company in texas. The owner of this company "used to work for rolex" and now can do the "same service cheaper". That all sounds great......but then he said "he will use aftermarket parts, any diamonds, some dials, some bezels are aftermarket, Rolex original parts just cost to much". but then he went on to insure me the one he had in store was "100% original". How common is this? I want 100% original, All this is making me very gun shy. I want to get something real, not some frankenwatch

If the guy admitted that his service contact uses aftermarket parts, I'd stay away from buying/servicing with them. Some aftermarket parts are so close, it'd be near impossible to tell without having the real thing next to it to compare.

The diamonds I would take aftermarket as even Rolex don't make their own, with the rest I agree with you,I would walk away, atleast he told you enough to walk away, the best way to buy used is from a proven seller or new.

Just like anything else, if you don't trust the seller, don' trust the product...

Thats what i was thinking. I'm gonna avoid him. thanks
What really got me was the dials. I mean I dont want diamonds and I could find a real bezel to replace an aftermarket one if the price was right but a dial, come on!

Aftermarket repair parts is one thing, while aftermarket diamond bezels is another. I wouldn't want aftermarket parts inside the watch, at all. Blinging it up with diamonds doesn't concern me much, as long as I know what is what.

I would stay away, but you shouldn't post the name as you are not 100% sure.

I get the Impression that the OP is 100% sure that the "Owner" uses aftermarket Parts.

Just the fact that you are asking us should tell you that you don't feel good about this guy. Trust your gut and go elsewhere. You will be glad you did. Everyone says this but first time'ers seldom listen but I'll say it again, "Go to one of the "Trusted Sellers" here on the forum or find one in your area.

Best of luck!

The owner definitely told me that the place he uses will repair with after market parts and sometimes after market dials. But I'm not about trying to hurt anyone's business I would just hate to see someone get burned if he didn't admit it to someone else. Lets just put it this way. If you are in jewelry stores in manchester N.H. ask a lot of questions.

I would stay away from that AD. Anyone who uses aftermarket parts will devalue your rolex. And if you happen to send it in to a RSC they will not service any watch with aftermarket parts.

just to say it wasn't an AD and Rolex will service a Rolex with after market parts but will replace them all at a cost to the owner, which will not be cheap.

Not a fan of diamonds on a Rolex.

At all. My 2 cents. You ruin a great design.
