Soo... How often do you plan on purchasing a Rolex?
Its amazing to see everyone's unboxing threads lately(hint hint dalip, just to name one!)
I joined this forum and within less than a month, i purchased my first Rolex! Its crazy to me how before i go and purchase my next watch(PAM 112), im already planing on buying my third(PEPSI GMT)! and it made me think... How often do you plan on purchasing a new(or new to you :) ) Rolex? |

i plan on buying a new Rolex, probably one more, after a few years. Then another after 5 or more years after that purchase.

So far every 25 years. Unlikely to change. So probably just one more!

In another thread, we discussed whether buying Rolexes makes financial sense. I don't know if we reached any kind of consensus but for me it does make some financial sense - after smoking for 27 years I stopped 7 years ago, thereby saving about US$3,000 per year (I was on a pack-and-a-half a day).
So now I allow myself a new Rolex roughly every 2 years or so with the money saved..bought the Deepsea, Milgauss GV and TT Sub C since then! |

I would consider myself to be very lucky to have a Rolex a year!

I've waited for my first Rolex for a year and a half. Finally I got it a month ago, and immediately started to think about which one should be my 2nd Rolex. But I don't plan to buy more than one Rolex a year.

More often than I would like..
I love all the watches I buy.
The problem, like many of us, I usually end up selling in search of something new if the love affair starts to fade. There will always be the ones that will never be let go but the "hunt" for a new one is always exciting. |

I bought 4 Rolexes over 2.5 years, latest being the Daytona.
Sort of planned as I cleared many other stuff to concentrate on Rolex. The selling-off was sad but necessary since collecting watches is not cheap. In reality it's an insane amount to spend on watches But well, TRF got me excited on the brand!!! :D Don't think I will add a 5th anytime soon since there are other priorities in life. If a 5th is calling loud and clear, I guess another round of rationalising the collection is needed again.

Never a plan so far....bought a few..then traded them. Looking ahead...I'd imagine it's got to realistically be one NEW one a year: and hopefully no more flips ! :)
...and, therefore, as the OP has mentioned in the original post: I already have picked one up..that's this years quota over ..or perhaps not!!?

It took me a long, long time to save up enough money, and to flip several "lesser" watches, in order for me to get hold of my Sub. I am not a collector, and I intend to keep this watch for the foreseeable future. If, however, I came upon a " once in a lifetime" opportunity to purchase another Rolex, at a bargain price, I could be tempted.

Bought my first Rolex in 1992 a TT Sub Blue, came into a bit of money and bought my second (DeepSea) in Nov 2010 and a third (Explorer II) a month later. I'm recovering now.

I was planning on buying a 116613LB for my 30th birthday in December.
However with the price increases we have seen and in expectation of more maybe I would be wise to buy sooner rather than later. Not sure that I want any more after that though. Possibly I might target the Explorer I as an evening watch, but that is quite cheap (relatively speaking!) and does not contain gold so maybe I can absorb the risk of not buying that one that post haste... |

i'm sorry, maybe "plan" was not the correct word to use. Just reflecting on what is going on in my life right now. Ive always wanted two watches, a panerai and a rolex. I got the rolex but being on this forum and everyone posting wruw pics, i then wanted a pepsi gmt. Since i just got a sub c, my next mission is to get a panerai.. then ill go for the kill and get a pepsi. :)

I don't buy them on a schedule, but I did buy a lot of them last year. This year I think I'll refocus on other brands. I always start thinking about my next Rolex shortly after I bought my last one...
