Any WG Daytona owners?

So, this summer I'll be getting married in Santorini and I've got my eye on a 116509 with Silver Arabic dial that I want to wear when it happens. It's got me thinking however..

Does the fact that the watch is made from white gold change anything about it's attributes?

For example, is it still safe to wear in the water often? Does one need to worry about more easily damaging the watch given that the gold will be softer than 904L?

Anyone ever gone WG Daytona and regretted it?

Interested in any and all stories, and of course your PICTURES!

White gold is as safe in the water as Stainless, perhaps more so...

As for softer than 904, well, yes.. But it's still a hard alloyed metal and not likely to sustain any more damage than any other gold jewelery that has been around for centuries..........

I like the silver arabic, put it on my 116520, but feel cheated that i have to get the WG with that silver dial, and I did.

once you go gold you don't want to come back to SS, is that simple...

NO Regrets!

Dear friend....

Getting married in Santorini ! Best wishes ! I know many islands there but Santorini. You can wear any watch there. The landscape will overwhelm all timepieces. But go on gold !

Again, my best wishes ! And Congrats !

I'm an ex 116509 with silver dial owner. My reasons for the sale had nothing to do with the watch. It is bitch'in!

Rolex is the only watch manufacture that has the resources to have their own foundry. Their WG is 75% gold and the balance Palladium (part of the Platinum family) (the exact composition of the 25% is actually proprietary, but it is mostly palladium). Palladium is extremely hard and about $750/oz. Most other manufacture use a rhodium plate to obtain the WG look. You do not have to worry about polishing and having it change color and it is amazingly scratch resistant when compared to a standard 18K YG watch. Rolex knows how to do WG.

Santorini will be a gas. I remember almost losing it on a corner on a rented scooter on the island of Mikonos.... short and t-shirt..... it wouldn't of been pretty.
