Just to clarify re: white dial GV
As a result on my recent post about the green crystal Milgauss with a white dial, I have received several pm's and texts asking me where I bought a separate green crystal, and if they're available anywhere. Answer is - I don't know. In my post I mentioned that I own both the GV and the white dial Milgauss (what can I say, that's my favorite Rolex model by far), so I simply had my watchmaker switch the movement/dial/hands assemblies between the two. Here's the proof (sorry for the crappy iPhone pic, away from my lightbox etc.):
On a sidenote, I sort of like the GV dial with the regular crystal as well, leaves it looking sort of 'tobacco' color. It's almost like I got two new watches!

I just assumed that is probably how you accomplished your modification, but thanks for the clarification.
I like the green crystal with the white dial. However, I REALLY think that I would like the GV dial with a clear crystal. When you get time, do you think that you might take some more pics of that setup?? I really like the dial outlay with the 3/6/9 orange markers and then the "off-black" color of the dial.

Didn't you just swap crystals? Forgive me, I am not a Millie owner...but I came close on the black one / opted for a GMTIIC. |

Bill,
Swapping crystals would me much more intrusive to the watch - the watchmaker just pulled out the movement, and the dial/hands are attached. So, the entire assembly comes out and goes into a different case with the crystal still attached. Hope this helps! |

Oh good - thanks for clearing it up. I thought my eyes were playing up when I saw the pix.
The White dial with GV crystal looks kinda interesting. |

x2! The GV sans green crystal looks really sharp. Looking forward to seeing more pix, thanks. I like the green crystal from the side, but am not the hugest fan of how it dulls the dial face from straight on. The extra sharpness of the white dial seems to counteract the dulling of the green crystal while also toning down the creamsicle look of the orange and white. Win-win in my book. |

Greg, you created two winners! Both the white dial/glasse verti and the clear crystal GV are spectacular. OTOH, I also like the stock GV because Rolex seems to have incorporated "Earth Tones" in this unique model. Even the lightning bolt seems to fit the scheme. However, if it were possible to question the Rolex GV design team, I bet they had no intentions of focusing on earth tones. I like it even better with a nice leather or croc strap. From Wikipedia - "Earth tone is a color scheme that draws from a color palette of browns, tans, greys, greens, oranges, whites, and some reds. The colors in an earth tone scheme are muted and flat in an emulation of the natural colors found in soil, moss, trees and rocks."

I really don't care why they have to say.... Plus, all parts are genuine Rolex, so what can they say? If I need service on my own Rolex, it goes to Charlie Cleeves!

So are you saying Greg that the true colour of the GV (genuine green milgauss) dial is not black but a brownish tobacco colour?
By the way where can I get a green crystal

I don't think I like the green crystal on white. It makes the dial kind of look dirty.

I always thought I wanted a white GV, but the green makes the dial look "dirty" in that shot. Maybe it looks different with more light?

[QUOTE=Mosco;2396751]Yeah, I can live with that.... Besides, I do think that the GV dial with the clear crystal is pretty sweet - looks tobacco, and you can REALLY tell the different colors of the markers. It's going to get some wrist time, rest assured
i really love the gv sans the green crystal but the other combination is just way too perfect. i just can't stop staring at it..... wonder if rolex ever comes out with this model. they would double the sales of milies. |

Looking at those pics, I really think that is the way Rolex should have gone.
There is much more interest in the brown dial with the clear xtal. They should have offered it in all combos really as the GV looks sweet, but I really think it looks best on the white.

Wow, that looks pretty awesome. The Milgauss is completely different than any other Rolex anyway but when you put the white dial under the green crystal...again, wow! I finally got to try on a Milgauss a couple of weeks ago and I was amazed how much I liked it, if I don't wait for an ExpII 9the new one) I might have to pick up a white Milgauss. You know where I can get a green crystal?
