Calling all diver watch owners

Those who own a true diver watch or diver-style watch, what do you really do with your watch?

I don't dive but I do knock merry hell out of my Sub... And it loves every minute!

I climb mountains, play polo, drive tractors, fix cars... All in my Sub!

Well speaking for myself I have used Rolex and other brands as working tools for diving. But myself now long retired from diving owing to ill health, was PADI and BSAC instructor for many years, but my diving days are now over. But today would doubt if 90% of all diving type watches ever see water other than perhaps a shower or splash in the pool or sea.

There are many divers on here that use their watches for diving. I am one of them, and every dive watch I have ever owned has been below the sea...

I have to confess that I have not dove in any of my watches and all of them minus my speedy pro are divers. Ive always admired the sub design and prefer the look of dive watches. I do swim and use the bezel to time miscellaneous things does that count?...lol

I am not a diver. I own a Tudor Submariner. I own this watch because of my time in the Army and Army Reserve. I needed a durable, accurate watch. This watches met the test.

I took my submariner diving in Maui but I wont take it on my next trip. This June I am going to Tokyo for a week then off to Palau for 8 nights and diving. I will probably wear my Seiko.

I look at it to admire it, and occaisionaly I look at it when I need to know the time or when I have forgotten what date it is.

I dive maybe twice a year, but that's not why I bought my SD. For what most of us do as far as diving, a datejust would perform fine.

I wear my sub in the pool and in the ocean while at the beach. With the 1000 foot rating I feel confident it can handle my shallow "dives" without an annual pressure test.

My does desk diving mainly. I wear mine 24/7, even to bed, shower, etc. so it's used as a durable watch, but I've never been scuba diving, just snorkeling and swimming.

However, I did spend 23 years as a US Naval Officer before retiring in 2007, so I've worn my Rolex watches all over the world while serving proudly.

I never take any of my diver's watches near any water, unless you count washing them under the tap I don't dive at all, and barely go near any sea or ocean, but if I would in the future, I don't think I'd take the Sub-C with me. I know, it's a shame not to use what is probably the world's best diver's watch for its true functions.

However, regardless of all that, I do want my diver's watches to be true diver's watches, conforming to the ISO 6425 spec. That's what counts out the Breitling SuperOcean II and the Bremont Supermarine for me...

I went under ice diving this past weekend in Georgian Bay and took the only diver I have left.

It was the first time below water for my Seiko SKX007. Not a sub, but worked very well. It's currently still on my wrist as I type.

Cheers,
B.

I either use my 14060M for diving or one of my 16600s. The rest of my Rolex divers rarely visit the ocean. Lately, my 14060M on a NATO has been the tool.
