Please help me choose! 116610 or 16610?

I have owned a few subs over the years and none of them come close to my Sub C. It is by far the best Rolex sport watch I have ever owned, and super comfy one the wrist after proper sizing of the bracelet. The new subs can't be beat, I actually don't know why anyone would buy the old subs now that the new one's are available.

Well I took the advise of 50.09% of the forum! I'm getting the 116610!
This morning I called the AD that I visited on Saturday and... IT WAS GONE! I was torn! I started calling other Ad's to check stock. I was in luck! It turns out an AD that I will be near on buisness next week has one in stock! I actually got a better deal. CASH TALKS! THis week is going to take foreverrrrrrr.

I've been going through a similar dilemma, but am not ready to pull the trigger just yet. I'm also jonesing for the new 39mm Explorer. As far as the Sub C goes, I can tell you that the wider lugs are the only thing that has thrown me off about the new Sub C. I love the maxi dial and the new glidelock clasp. I have been to the AD two times now and have compared a no-date Sub, a 16610 date (I don't think they have it anymore at the AD, it was several months ago), and the new 116610 Sub C. I have to say, in person the new Sub C looks better than the other two to me, but this is just my own personal opinion.

The lugs still bother me a bit, but I can overlook them when all is said and done I think. Another thing is that I want to wear it also on a NATO strap once in a while. In pictures, I think that the older case looks better on a NATO, but that's just me, and maybe I need to get used it the newer lugs. Another thing I do like is how the watch looks on the reverse case. For some reason, I think the bottom of the watch case looks better. I don't know why, and it's kind of silly since you don't look at it unless the watch is off your wrist. To me it's funny how I think the lugs are a minus for me from the front, but from the back make it look better. Lol.

The kicker for me though is just holding the two next to each other. The Sub C to me feels more substantial. But, it is more expensive which throws me off a bit. But I plan to get one more wristwatch that I want to last for the next 40+ years of my life. I don't really want to buy used because of this reason, I just would like to have known it 's only been in my possession and something maybe to pass down in the future. I think the ceramic, if it doesn't ever crack, would be good as it's not supposed to fade and is scratch resistant, not to mention the new antimagnetic blue hairspring.

So, for me, these are the reasons I plan on getting the new Sub C over the older version. But the best advice is to get the one that sings to you. We all have our opinions, and for you, yours is really the only one that matters when you make this purchase. They're both great watches and you really can't go wrong with either choice.

For me, I would choose the 116610. The older bracelets are a deal-breaker for me

Congrats on choosing the Sub C. All the changes were upgrades in my opinion so I was am easy choice for me. Only difference was I prefer the TT Blue over SS. I hope this week goes by quickly.

Hi all. Just joined the forum and I went through this exact same dilemma today and opted for the Sub C. The AD was trying to get me to go with the 16610 and mentioned that the values have been going up and now that its discontinued it will be a better investment but the new Sub is mechanically superior in my opinion and as some other astute members of this forum have mentioned is what is new today will become timeless tomorrow. I am very happy with my decision and have caught the Rollie bug now. Cheers all!

Lucky to have owned both versions and al I would add to the discussion is that you should probably consider how you are planning to use/wear the watch - the Sub-C is superior but also has a higher "bling" factor so if you are planning to use as a tool watch or travel extensively to less desirable parts of the world then it is something to consider - I for one am considering switching my Sub-C for a 16610 or 1680 for this very reason. If you crack the ceramic one (difficult, but possible) I hear it's £1000+?

Other than that, choose your favourite.

I chose 16610, but 4 weeks later sold it and will never buy another Sub, or "diver". Too dull for me and just a tool after all.

The ceramic bezel insert is approx £300-350 if just the insert needs replacing. I assume the £1000 includes the actual bezel.....

SubC may be the perfect SS watch imho. I've had 3 and shoot myself about a month after selling each time.

The price at my AD for a Sub Date is $8550. If you can get one for $6400, that’s a great price.
