SS DAYTONA or FIFTY FATHOMS
I am. Rolex guy through aand through, Deep Sea, GMT II Coke, The. Hulk Sub, TT sub 116113, I am having a difficult choice because of an opportunity to buy a breams new rose gold Blancpain fifty fathoms at half price foe 13,500 vs a purchase of a stainless steel Daytona from an AD. Tough call touch call, I own lots of Rolexes but not the daytona and have always loved the FF especially in the rose gold.
Thoughts boys? |

the Blancpain fifty fathoms, is the size of a car steering wheel... for that reason I say go Daytona... 20 years from now giant watches will be laughable...

The BP is a beautiful watch, but its a BP in name only, as it's still a SWATCH. Buy the Daytona

I'd get the Daytona
I had a FF but sold it as I just could not get used to it on my wrist.
It's a great watch but I would definately go with the Daytona Can't miss! |

Surely the FF would be a no-brainer. Different league to the Daytona, which, in my opinion, is overhyped and overpriced.

i like the BP, but not sure in Rose Gold - something worries me that they had to off at around 50% discount to get the sale. wonder what would a re-sale well be? i agree with Clyde on the SS version. i'm going to go with a BP if you can get at a decent price, i'm sure you will see even less of them in the wild (than a 116520) |

Ss daytona vs fifty fathoms
I would go with the FF in stainless. Love the watch, just wish I could afford it.

That is a good price for a RG FF.
Only a few could carry that off IMO as it one huge puppy.

Resale of the gold watches is horrible and I have a feeling that the over-sized watch craze will die down (apart for Panerai owners, they have different taste DNA for some reason) so keep that in mind. However, if the FF sings to you - live a little - get it!

Daytona and FF are different animals altogether. I personally love the Daytona. But you can never go wrong when you get what you like in the end.

Daytona keeps it's value very well. But a solid gold nice watch is very tempting no doubt!

Always get the one you like the most. If you like both equally, then I would definitely go for the one with the better deal, don't always get oppoprtunities such as this.

My opinion--
1. BP is definitely Swatch. Doesn't mean the watch isn't nice, but saying it isn't a Swatch is like saying Cadillac isn't a GM. 2. As pretty as gold or RG is, it's for dress watches or dress/sport models. A rose gold diving watch is like a Sub with a diamond bezel. 3. I much prefer the 40mm FF's. Much more versatile watch to own. I tried on the 45mm, and "steering wheel" or "porthole" are about what I thought, too. 4. I think the FF is a pretty watch, and the price for this one is attractive. IMO, the first buyer took the big fat drop in depreciation, and your resale value will be fine. |
