My latest flashlight is a Fenix HL20 headlamp. I am happy with it.
It has 3 levels of brightness and a flashing SOS mode. 4 lumens (56 hours); 48 lumens (5.5 hours); 105 lumens (1.8 hours). It is made of aircraft aluminum and the battery case is plastic. It runs on one AA battery. Fenix also makes tactical lights that I will probably try too.

I use the ASP CR123 light on the end of a tactical baton. Very handy.

Check out these 2 bad boys from Fenix. Awesome power, easy to use, multiple settings, and they use AAs and D cells.
800 lumens!!! http://www.fenixlight.com/viewproduct.asp?id=141 255 lumens. http://www.fenixlight.com/viewnproduct.asp?id=84 And the one I'm ordering... http://www.fenixlight.com/viewnproduct.asp?id=86 These modern LEDs make the old maglights look like a candle.

I also have a small Fenix which has about 45 lumens...they are very nice to have and handy as well. I had a problem with the bulb assembly and the battery making contact and a mechanic friend said that seems to be a problem with LED flashlights. Tip...he used brake cleaner on a rag to clean the contacts and now it works create!!!

The d cell is a real monster. In a pinch, I would rather have a c cell. See what fits your hand best. I have one in the car (4), and one at home (6).

Sipik
I bought a sipik (cheap chinese brand) from meritline and was extremely happy with it. So much so that Ive sinced purchased another 10 to keep around the house, cars, and for some friends who were very impressed. Focus can be adjusted from an intense spot that has quite a long throw, to a very wide "flood". At $10/piece, I strongly suggest anyone who was a good torch to give these a shot. |

Surefire is the best. I've beat the heck out of mine, still runs like a top. I'm a fan of the E1B Backup.
If you want to take a chance with a non-Surefire brand, here's one claiming 450 lumens in a handheld package. It's probably no Surefire, but I'd love to know if it works as claimed and can take abuse. Anybody want to be a test subject? http://www.4sevens.com/product_info....oducts_id=2621 |
