Congrat's and I sure hope you have tried one on! They are beautiful but rather thick and heavy!

i did just yesterday and i am totally thrilled! i had only been dating her for a month and my easter gift was SO lavish that i had turned it down. little did i realize that it was nothing for her to give and she wanted to make me happy. my conscience had gotten the best of me and i just couldnt accept such a gift. i had eventually agreed to allow her to give me a loan on this particular watch. if im going to spend that kind of money i wanted it to be very durable, etc. i know she is going to try and give it to me as a gift thats why i said "possibly" but i would at least like to pay her for it....

Welcome to TRF! Please, please, please try it on first. The DSSD is the largest watch Rolex makes and the thickness and weight can be an issue for some if you intend to use it as a daily wearer. Good luck and congratulations.

Does she have a sister who is as generous? :D

Seriously, if you do pay for it, in part or in whole, you get to keep it in case it doesn't work out. But it seems the relation is already working and well on its way to getting much better because she is thoughtful enough to give you a Rolex for Easter. Sounds like she's a keeper. Wish you continued happiness.

i like the fact that it is so big! i think it stands out in the crowd, etc. i am particularly excited about this watch because of how its made and believe it or not i personally like the way that it looks. she thinks its ugly and would rather buy me a Yacht Master but i told her this "I would totally appreciate anything you were to get me being that it came from you being thoughtful but there is just something about that DSSD that I will have it no matter what!" so i guess after reading about the construction, design, materials used to make it and why, im just hooked!

One Helluva Great Experience for sure. Just watch out for doorways and the like. Don't want to be tearing any of those suckers down with your new Monster Watch.

Seriously hope you have tried it on, as it is a bit on the bigger side.

Awesome watch, Congrats and Welcome to TRF.

I tried it on Tuesday at an AD and honestly I really love it! I'm a fan of big watches with weight. I am really impressed with the watch because of it's design quality and capability but I do like the classic look. I'm not concerned with it's size. I'd love it forever.

If you are a big fan of gigantic watch have a look at the CX Swiss Military 20,000 Feet Diver http://www.ablogtoread.com/cx-swiss-...al-watch-ever/

What are you in for? The DSSD would be the least of your worries buddy. I'd be more concerned about your generous girl considering you've only dated for a month and how am I going to pay her back.

Enjoy your DSSD! And wear it in good health!

My origional Easter present was a $6,000 Breitling watch, expensive cologne, bottle of my favorite blue berry wine, and the grass in the basket was $5,000 in 100 dollar bills. WOW! I didnt know what to think at first. I was blown away!! I turned it down respectfully. Started doing my research on dive watches for what ever reason and eventually came across the DSSD. I figured if i was going to ask her for a loan to get a nice watch i might as well get one built like the DSSD and hopefully it would appreciate over the years thats why i chose Rolex. So thats how i got to where im at now and knowing her its going to be a gift but honestly i would feel much better if she would let me pay her a little something on it every month, etc. She is a very kind girl that hasnt really seen the ugly side of life because of family wealth bless her heart.

I don't like to pass judgement on someones relationship...But...

If I was going out with a girl who did things like that after only one month I'd be seriously concerned that, if I ever broke up with her, I'd come home to find my pet rabbit having a "jacuzzi" in a pan of salted water on the stove...!
