I have a 1680/8 (not a 16808) and I love it. Up until about a year ago I never liked gold watches, or gold anything for that matter. Now I love them. I think it's a taste one sometimes acquires with age. Anyway . . .

Patrick,
I am with you. this is exactly what I want: It belongs (belonged) to Ned Vaughn the actor who frequents these forums from time to time. Super Nice guy. But he would not sell it to me..... |

It will take some time. In addition, it is hard to find either a sub or gmt with a nice tight bracelet in gold. I passed on one like I posted a pic of a few years ago for $8k, should have bought.

They are beautiful watches and I would love to own one but there is something I find uneasy about owning a tool watch made out of a soft metal like 18k gold.

The thing is, the more I use and look at the new models with the shiny ceramic bezels, bloated lugs and overall designs, over-sized this and that, the more I appreciate the older models, or the designs that have remained tasteful, like the 36mm Datejust and Day Date.

Never knew that, watched that movie a dozen times. Dosen't Hopper throw his watch away quite early in the movie, in one of the jump-cut sequences?
