Hoping the experts can help me figure this out. I just received a 1601, 5 mil serial, non quickset. For the date, all 6s and 9s are open except 26, which has a closed 6. Has anyone encountered an original Rolex date wheel that's like it? Thanks.

Yes, that has come up a few times. It is not uncommon, but it seems no-one truly knows why Rolex would not use an open 6 on the "26" Some surmise it is due to spacing and or esthetics. Both my ~1965 - 1675 and ~1966 - 1603 are like this.

How quirky of Rolex to do this, that it was ok for them to do an open 29 but not the same for 26.
