Can beaters look good ?

Lot of guys on here don't like beaters & wear their Rolex's all the time.

I'm one of the guys who believe in having a beater & using it in any situation I don't feel comfortable wearing my SD

I was cycling this afternoon & had my "beater" on for most of the afternoon. I don't see why a beater can't be cool & have a feel good factor "for its purpose" rather than just be some piece of cheap plastic that tells the time

I got my Seiko shipped across from HK about 3/ 4 years ago for under £100

Took a few pic's once back home to see if anyone agree's ???

I have an iron man digital watch for workouts or any type of activity I don't think is suitable for my sub, which I don't think is too many.
I think my iron man is a pretty cool watch.

I've been looking at some Seikos from Japan and I do think you can have a 'cheap' watch that can sing to you.

My beater is a quartz. I only wear it on the weekends and don't want to have to fool with setting and winding it up. I like it.

I am a watch fan and I love all kinds of watches some expensive some cheap. I think that if you like a watch if it is 10.00 dollars or 100,000 if you can afford it and like it, rock it. I think my g-shocks look cool just in a different way.

+1 Agreed. On certain days, my G Shocks or my Seiko Divers make me smile just as much as my Sub C or PAMS.

The Seiko diver was my beater for awhile. One day my uncle was looking at my watches. Of all watches, he pick up that Seiko and told me he really loves it. I just gave it to him and he's been wearing it since.

Depends what you mean by "beater". My 14060 is on my wrist most of the time but when I work in the garden (fencing, chopping trees), or in the workshop/garage, I always change to my $50. plastic watch as I would not enjoy my Rolex as much with scratches & chips all over it.

As a recent Seiko fan I can say they produce many great looking references. Modded, original, vintage, or new there's one [or as many as you like] for everyone.

Yup!

Five years of daily use and abuse and it still looks new!
I honestly think the high end makers ought to look at Seiko and figure out why their watches do not scratch when my Rolexes get swirls just by looking at them.

My beater (the one on the right).

I got it before it was labelled as "Link" and became the Tiger Woods model.

Well myself hate the term beater for any watch no matter what the brand to me they are all just wrist watches.

My thoughts exactly!

And if we refer to less expensive watches, of course they can look nice, just check out Dan`s Seiko collection!

Or this bad boy of mine!

My "less expensive" watches are...
Victorinox Divemaster 500 (Quartz)
Seiko Black Monster
Seiko SKX007

They all excite me when I wear them...

Here's my last 10 years worth of beaters, all broken in some way or another :(

As you can tell I have always loved the seiko divers and they normally last 3 or so years, the worst one of the bunch was the seiko 5 on the left side, that thing barley lasted a year before loosing the bezel then stopping.

Hopefully my EXP II will last a bit longer, im kinda rough on watches

My 1995 Breitling Chronomat is my beater and it still looks great and functioning 100%. I don't wear a watch if I were to work on my car or any other obvious hazard. Other than that, I have one of my watches on at all times. Since buying new in 1995, this watch has been my primary watch for: rock climbing, mountain biking, skiing, swimming and the list goes one.

I've got a Seiko too for my beater/backup/whatever watch. I don't wear it for too many things but it does get used when I don't want to wear my Sub.

I wear my $25 Timex Ironman when I am doing any electrical work(its a safety thing) and when I'm doing anything that I might smash it.
I know lots of folks that wear there Rolex's all the time but I just can't wear a 12K Daytona knowing I'll be probably banging my wrist against something while working.

Nice collection. However, I figured out that it is very difficult to find Seiko diver in U.S. Will did you get yours?

I love my Timex Ironman and old Sheffield Allsport divers watch. They are cheap but rather fancy I think. But they could never replace my Tudor Sub or Rollies before this.
