They are all so nice. Like comparing a beautiful petite blond bombshell to a tall glass of water Asian beauty. Having both would be nice, but sometimes one at a time is the best we can do.

The poll numbers are close! It's not helping me decide whether to buy the new one or not!
I just splurged on two extra bezel inserts for my Pepsi GMT (from an AD no less, for a ridiculously low price - go figure...). It didn't make me feel better, and I need to satisfy my Rolex cravings! Oh, if only my Christmas bonus were to come in July! |

Nothing really against the newer 116710 GMT, but there's not one thing about it that I like better than the older 16710 GMT. If there was no predecessor, then the new GMT would do just fine. But.....the 16710 is more true to the original 1675 GMT. I don't really like the larger case, polished center links, ceramic bezel, green 24 hour hand, etc.
You can pick up a new (or near new) 16710 for $4.0K. Take the extra $2.5K and buy yourself another watch. |

My vote is the New TT GMT. I haven't seen the new SS GMT, but I've been impressed with the photos. The TT isn't that "bling" like the YG and is a good balance between class and function. Not too much of a big fan of the old Pepsi GMT personally...

You'd only have $2k left. Price is $5950 (or .25, don't recall).

I think an amateur can put them in - there's a tutorial somewhere on TRF on how to do that! Personally, I'd just take it to an AD and have them do it - I think most would do it for nothing to curry favor with you!

the classics will always be lovely... i've seen the new GMT II in person and it's definitely a nice watch... just not to my liking... i'd spend the money on a TT Sub before buying a new TT GMT.

I own a Pepsi GMT 16710 Z series.
I really like the points that Dan Pierce made. I agree that the new GMT has a better clasp, no doubt at all, and the new Parachrom blue hairspring is more anti-magnetic. Not sure what other differences represent an improvement in the movement; both are COSC, n'est-ce-pas?. I personally find the bezel font on the new GMTs too large for my liking, but that's just me. You really have to look at them side by side and decide if the price difference is worth it. I got a substantial discount on my GMT and I doubt if I could get a discount on a new GMT. The polished centre links would begin to bother me in short order as well. That said, the day may well arrive where I'm writing an enthusiastic review of a new GMT......... The new GMT is undoubtably a beautiful and either GMT (old or new) would be a great addition to any collection. When spending this kind of $$, you should really make a decision based on what you want and can afford. Take advice but in the end make your mind up from your own gut feeling, live with the decision an week, and if you still feel the same way 7 days later, chances are you won't be flipping your watch in 6 months..... Just my opinion. Best of luck in your choice. Regards, Chris |

[QUOTE][Hi Dan,
Where did you purchase that jubilee bracelet for your pepsi? I want to do that to my GMT. /QUOTE] FB, I found the jubilee for sale on Timezone.com from someone I was familiar with so I knew it was authentic. Right place, right time. They're hard to find and rarely come up for sale. I've heard it is possible to get one from an AD although I can't confirm that. If so, it could cost up to $700.00. Good luck, dP
