A Sea-Dweller at 21?! I'd say you're doing alright.
I think it's cool to see so many young cats, mixed in with the oldshoolers, who are in to collecting Rolex watches. Cheers!! |

op, thanks for sharing... you mentioned in the beginning that you never really liked Rolex with it's stigma...just curious about that perception...what is the perceived "stigma" associated with Rolex...anyone?

Eh its really stupid and I can't believe I had that thought. But top of my head, I guess that many of the people who buy Rolex's do so because they want to make a status statement. Rolex price range, I can get an IWC or JLC. Design is too common and boring. Huge target for thief. But thats all really silly reasons. I mean first off, you buy the watch for yourself. Other people opinion or view about you shouldn't matter at all. While its arguable IWC and JLC watch is better quality. Rolex design has stood against time. Would I like an Aquatimer or Navy Seal? Sure, but I can see myself flipping it in a few months. When I finally educate myself more about Rolex. I just believe its the sport watch.

Great story, your desire for time pieces are only going to grow as you get older. I acquired my first Swiss watch at 23 a panerai 113. Now I own several rolex's, iwc's etc but I keep on wanting more.

Congrats and wear it in good health Duy. Great choice and that watch can only go up in value not only from a monetary standpoint but more importantly is that it will definitely be worthy of passing down from one generation to the next.

I was talking over coffee to another WIS about his beautiful GMT11C and mentioned that I wouldn't mind a date on my watch but not the cyclops. He said why not an SD. I couldn't believe I had overlooked that option. The SD is everything I like about the 14060 but with a date. Good choice.
