Regarding the warranty on a watch from an AD :

I know Rolex does not allow transferring the warranty in the U.S. on a named and dated card from an AD.

My question is do other manufacturers allow the warranty to be transferred w/n the warranty period or does sale of the watch void the warranty with others also ?

I think you need to recheck your information... a Rolex warranty goes with the watch, not the buyer. As long as the watch is under warranty Rolex will repair no matter who brings it in.

Not entirely accurate. The NY RSC will not honor the secondary warranty, but Dallas will. Most other manufacturers will as well.

I have found most other manufactures to honor the warranty as well.

From what I have read your statement is NOT true and that is the crux of my original question. There are many Rolex service centers in the U.S. where the warranty does NOT follow the watch.

My question is does it follow the watch with other manufacturers.

It probably depends on the manufacturer. However, the Rolex warranty does in fact follow the watch and not the buyer.

I hear that in USA, Rolex warranty follows the original buyer (name on the card) but elsewhere, it follows the watch.

With other manufacturers, the warranty follows the watch.....but I have wrong before.....

In America, the warranty is only for the original purchaser of the watch. From what I read, some RSCs in America will turn a blind eye, whilst others will not. This is only a Rolex USA policy, which is a semi-autonomous entity - worldwide, the warranty is for the watch, not the original purchaser.

Exactly!

This a Rolex USA thing. For other watch brands sold in the US the warranty follows the watch.

this is not accurate.

i have personally had warranty service on two different watches in the last six months @ nyc RSC, each of which i was a second owner.

their policy has recently changed with rolex and is still confusing even among the employees at nyc RSC.

There is also some unresolved debate regarding wether or not the secondary owner had to purchase watch from again from an AD (ie a watch that the AD bought back or took in trade).... however, in my case 1 watch was purchased from an AD and 1 watch was purchased from TRF trusted seller, both had warranty service honored by NYC RSC.

Not true. Just had a pre-owned watch under warranty regulated/serviced by NY RSC.
