I have said it before & will say it again. People on this forum can't see the Rolexes for all the Subs in the way.

I purchased a Sub because I wanted a Sub.

You should purchase a Milgauss because you want a Milgauss.

I too started along a progression very similar to yours and all I'll say is it is a very personal choice. I promise whatever you buy you will be quickly plotting a way to buy the other one.

To put that into perspective, I started with a SD which I love and am wearing today. Problem is, once you buy one, then you want a different one and so on....Next was a GMT IIC. Loved the watch but could never get right with the PCLs so I "sold" it (actually never got paid b/c I was scammed but that's another story). Next I bought a Sub C, which is an amazing piece and I intend to keep. After that, I ended up purchasing the new Explorer as I wanted something more casual, lighter, w/out the date. Though it's at the bottom of the Rolex food chain, it is one of my favorites and the watch I wear to work most often. After the Explorer I thought I was done with Rolex and had moved on to Panerai. But who was I kidding? My most recent additions are a pair of Daytona's: black dial and white dial. I know some may think I'm crazy but oh well (luckily I have 3 kids who will get all of these some day). I didn't buy the Daytonas together but quickly realized I wanted both dials for different reasons. Along the way I've come very close to buying a Millie GV but have never pulled the trigger but I'm sure I will someday.

Long way of saying, buy what sings to you now but realize it likely won't be your last Rolex.

I appreciate everybody's response to this thread. It was just a fun experiment, and, in the end, the Milgauss GV is the one for me. I am very excited to purchase my first Rolex, and (odds are) I'll be on here in 6 months soliciting opinions as to which should be my 2nd Rolex....the Sub-c or the GMT Master II......

Buy what you like. I bought a DJ for my first rolex. My 2nd will definitely be a sub.
