Tudor Chronograph: noise and vibration coming from the case
I just bought a Tudor Tiger Chronograph. It is in mint condition and I have receipts from a full service done by Rolex in 2005 and 2010. It keeps perfect time, but when I rotate the watch quickly on its center axis, I can briefly hear a noise and feel vibrations coming from inside the case. The chronograph and date functions also work fine, and I cannot find anything wrong with the overall operation of the watch. Is this an idiosyncrasy of Tudors or could there be something wrong with the watch.

Very true. Your watch has no issues. The noise and wobble are all part and parcel of the iconic 7750. A small price to pay [although I like the quirkiness] for a robust, bulletproof chrono movement.

Yep, par for the course with the 7750. I like it! Especially when you first start the wind up - It REALLY wobbles when you swirl it!

Thanks for the quick replies. I'm glad to hear that the watch is fine. I love the look of this Tudor, so much so that I sold my Daytona and replaced it with the Tiger.

All this Tudor chrono talk has changed tomorrow's wrist selection.

I wish I'd known about this quirk before I worried to death - shortly after buying the watch I knocked it against a door frame - hard enough to wedge wood splinters around the crown - and afterward noticed the vibrations and sense of something "rolling around" inside the case. I thought I had broken the watch. Took it for a checkup and all was fine.

Since you already know the answer is 'No', I have to ask... Isn't it cool? I wasn't aware the watch talks either and so I brought it back to my (former) AD to ask and they assured me it was A-OK.

yeah the 7750 ETA valjoux is an extremely robust and reliable movement and you can feel it shake and wind vibrate etc. It happens on the breitlings too!
Wear and ejoy

Yeah and its easily serviceable by a decent watchmaker and parts should never be a problem either

So, Dr. Chitwood - did you specifically want this dial, or specifically want a 79280, or were you just looking for the right deal with acceptable combo of dial, bracelet, bezel...
I guess an easier way to phrase the question would be: what were your criteria? |

I liked the look of the Big Block chronograph. I love the "panda" style dials, and I wanted the solid Oyster style bracelet. I prefer the stainless Dayton-style bezel. This watch fit my criteria, and the price was right. When it comes down to it, I just know it when I see it.
