1 month from my 116713 - first Rolex
Hey guys, I was going to save for the 116718 but my wife and I decided it's just a bit too much money at this time. So I'll get my second favorite watch... 116713 ...in about a month!
I been waiting for this day since the mid 1980s when my uncle allowed us (my brother and I) to wear his day-dates and GMTs. The memories of those early years is why I always wanted a Rolex watch, it reminds me of those special times long ago. I remember staring at that "Crown"... Memories are so fresh in my mind even after a quarter of a century. My very first Rolex is weeks away now. It will be epic for me, my uncle will be flying down from the UK to be here as well. I know it sounds silly but it's huge for me:) Can't wait to share my photos with you guys, love this forum. Cheers! |

Congrats Jinder! My dad wants a 116713! It is an incredible watch, the most classy Rolex in my opinion. I see your in Ontario! Where in Ontario? I'm in Kingston.

Congratulations,
Jinder...your story is what buying a Rolex is all about. I like the purity of your enthusiasm and I find it refreshing that you are saving up and buying it for all the right reasons. It gets so tiring reading posts from many first-time Rolex owners, who are going over the watch with a Loupe looking for flaws and then arguing for hours about which serial number is newer and whether Random is worth more than G, etc. Prior to the proliferation of social networking, people bought Rolex watches because the brand meant something to them personally and they savored and enjoyed the watch for a lifetime. I applaud you and i cannot wait to see the pics.

Hey Jinder...
I love hearing stories like yours... it's the same reason that I bought my first Rolex... cause of my father!
And it doesn't sound silly at all... Rolex watches are expensive to say the least... My watches are worth more than my car! Therefore, enjoy the process and savor every moment with you uncle... Remember this watch will last you a life time and one day you may pass it on to your kids... The TT GMT is now my favorite Rolex in my collection. It can be worn with anything and goes with everything! Looking forward to the pictures... Cheers!
