Icon10 "J1A" clasp code

Hi, I just got a Datejust II (ref. 116334), it's clasp is marked with the code "J1A": do you know what's the corresponding manufacturing year?

Thanks

If you just got it, and it's a new one, then your "date code" is a data point that tells us that J1A is recent...

Not the other way around...

My brand new G Series 116610LV has a clasp code of F7Z. I could not find any info on it either.

From what we have seen, the old clasp codes that we have catalogued into rough date estimates, have also gone random.. the same way the case serials have..

Only randomizing a unique serial number has a sense: I believe that clasp codes still mean a date (same code means same date). Maybe Rolex just moved the figure (representing the month) between the letters, instead of after..

Saddle, what's the first figure in your Sub's serial? The watch was "in stock", or has been ordered?

Nah... random. My random Milgauss from a couple months back was "OVD" and I have had a bunch of new random Subs that range from "QQQ" to "19T." Good luck with dating that.

Would it make sense for Rolex to do away with serial numbers so people can't date it, but keep allowing people to date clasp codes?

Well seeing that the DJ11 was recently introduced the clasp was stamped sometime between 2010 till present time 2011.

Ok, so the clasp code is random..

..what about the case serial: it isn't a random one, it's G2XXXXX. Estimated date?
