Why the high price of Rolex 14060?
I am looking to buy a Rolex 14060 COSC with the engraved rehaut.
For some odd reason when searching for the watch on this forum the prices are $300-$500 more than the other forum watchuseek.com Plus, the watches from the other website are 1-3 years old. So have the prices gone up for this watch? I just dont understand why one website is consistently selling it for less than $3900 and on this forum the sellers wont budge underneath $4250. Is it there any rhyme or reason? I am quite new to Rolex and this will be my first one...so have been researching day/night for that perfect watch to go on my wrist. And this is the one...now just have to find it. Thanks. |

Is it possible the postings you are comparing it to are older, or the watches are not in such good condition?
Either way if you have found a better deal elsewhere just make sure you can trust the seller and vote with your feet.

The watches are the same model/serial number. From what I saw the watches on the other website are of stellar condition.
Anyone use the other website to purchase watches? (Watchuseek.com) Does anyone have the same experiences as far as the price difference? Last edited by Palakiko; 27 July 2011 at 10:02 AM.. Reason: grammar |

Just remember it won't be the site you are buying the watch from. It will be the actuall seller you need to make sure is trust worthy.

Every seller is different. Have a price in mind and stick to it. Sooner or later you'll get lucky.

If you really want a watch $350 dollars over the life should stop you from getting it - especially if from a well respected trusted seller. What is $350 dollars over the long run...JMHO

Francisco - I have been watching 14060s for the past few years - bought 2 and sold 2 and they have gone up approx $1,000 during that 2 year period.
I bought a Z series 2 years ago for $3200, sold it 4 months later for $3100 - they go for $4000 + now. My theory - FWIW: Not many are for sale at the same time = low availability against consistent demand They are less that the 16610 = entry price for a Rolex dive watch = consistent demand Tudor divers have also risen in prices - thus pushing prices for the 14060 I LOVED my Z series and A series - they are the last of the iconic Rolex breed. I will buy another one some day (I sold mine to get a 5513) |

Most likely you're looking at sellers such as DavidSW or Mosco, the big names. They sell NEW watches in bulk. When buying from them you aren't taking some risk or getting a banged up old watch, you're getting a new watch with box and papers.
I used to somewhat share your view, but I realized that the big sellers here aren't technically some 2nd hand dealers. Think of them as buying from an AD with a MASSIVE discount. |

As said I think there may be a difference you are missing... condition... Research the hell out of the seller no matter who/where you choose to buy and as long as you are comfortable pull the trigger. I cannot speak for the other forum but most sellers sell on multiple forums and not just TRF... I can say that BODYBUMP, JUSTROLEXES and DAVIDSW here on TRF are top notch and you will NOT be disappointed, I have done multiple transactions with the above

TRF is not a shopping service, nor is it a sales web-site. The sellers are members offering to sell to other members, and have no relationship what-so-ever with TRF.. So, the "web-site" is not competing with another "web-site" If you don't like what a seller is listing his watch for, pm him/her and negotiate.. If you don't like the final price, get it at one of those other sites with the cheaper price... .......... simple..

As for other sources, in addition to watchuseek, you can look at TimeZone and Watchnet. Both have similar sales boards. But as everyone has said - buy the seller.
With TRF, you're paying a premium for not having the hassle and risk that a deal might turn sour, or you won't get a watch exactly as described. The reason people recommend the trusted sellers here is because your chances of a deal turning sour are close to 0%. On the other boards, it's higher. In the end, it's your tolerance for risk...

Yeah this is a cut throat market out here. And it is very nerve racking purchasing from outside of TRF. But I am looking at timezone but only specific sellers that someone has referred me to.

So what I noticed is that due to the economy getting better the prices of watches has been getting higher. As the new subm c released out this increased prices on the subs altogether. Another point I learned on my venture of finding my timepiece is that the 14060 COSC is kind of a rare commodity and may be discontinued.
I have learned so much on my journey to find my timepiece. I went out and tried on Rolexes last week. Loved the 14060 cosc for the clean look. But my wife and I also liked the maxi dial and "heftier" look of the sub c. Shes the one going to purchase the watch for me :) So she wants me to wait and see if Rolex is going to release a Sub C without a date. |
