Help with gift choice
Need some advice/help with making a choice. I'm wanting to get my dad a Rolex for Cristmas. My dad is a retired US Naval aviator. I'm tring to decide between a Sub. And GMT. I'm new to Rolex and I have a Sub. And love it. But my question is what is more appropriate for a naval aviator the Sub. Or GMT. My second question is what is the purpose of the pepsi style bezel wether it red/blk or red/blu.
I understand it what's my personal preference and all that. But from what I understand the GMT is more geared for aviation as is the Sub is to diving. I'm sure he will love what ever I get him but wanted to Taylor my decision toward his lifes accomplishments. With him being in the navy either one would work. Just want to know more about the GMT and it's beZels before I decide. And what others opinion is. Thanks, James |

Hey James!
That's awesome you're hookin pops up! I would definitely say GMTII-C or a Sea-Dweller. Either or are tanks and would suit a aviator. Let us know what you decide! |

With your dad being in aviation, the GMT would be the right choice IMO...
As for the Bezels (Pepsi:red & blue, Coke:red & black, and another is all black), they are just colour options and no other reason!! This model is now discontinued however, as the new GMT now has the ceramic bezel and only comes in all black..With either platinum numbers (silver) on the SS model, and gold (yellow) on the TT and full gold model.... Do a little search and you'll see what I mean..... A great gesture to gift a Rolex to your dad in anycase...Best of luck to you!

The (Pepsi) red and blue or (Coke) red and black besides being just different insert choices do also help indicate the difference between night and day. Red being day and blue or black indicating night time hours.

You can't go wrong with either one, but given his prior occupation the GMT would probably be the better choice. I'd shoot for the 16710.

Dddress thanks for the info about the day and night deal. The GMT is going to be the choice. I remember when I was very young he had a watch that had a red and
Blue bezel on it but I very seriously doubt it was a Rolex. My dad is kind of a tight ass. Thanks for the advice. |
