16610 hands too tight!
Hello everyone. This is my first post here. I have been looking everywhere for the answer to my question and came accross this forum. I have a Rolex Submariner 16610 that I bought pre owned recently. Very quickly I noticed that the hands appear to be so tight, that they are pressing the dial downwards! I was shocked when I saw this and am now worried that the watch could be fake. Anyway, when the light shines on the dial in a certain way you can see a circle reflecting on the dial with a diameter of about 2 millimeters. I tried to take a picture but it is too hard to see in a picture. I am hoping someone can tell me if this could be a flaw in my watch and if it can be repaired or if you think my watch could be fake. Thanks everyone.

I know exactly what you are talking about, that 'dimple' is perfectly normal, it's on every sub watch I have ever seen. Relax.

Welcome in the world of enamel dials! Enamel makes smooth angles around the date window and the hands hole (extreme refinement, isn't it?) it is also extremly durable and shiny... and BLACK, DEEEP BLACK!

It happens on my Explorer too and I think it is normal. You can easily see a circle reflecting on a black dial.

Dude it is a reflection from the hands onto the glossy dial .... when i first saw it on my first Rolex I freaked .... I did hold back from reporting it to my Rolex Dealer though.
It is perfectly normal ... Enjoy :) |

Dude ..... not a reflection unless we're talking about something else. It's actually an circular indentation made when the metal dial is stamped out from the raw sheet. There's also inward sloping sides around the date window if you have one. Everything perfectly normal.

The 'dimple' has always kind of annoyed me...never understood why Rolex can't refine that aspect of their process to provide a 100% perfect cut that doesn't bend upon assembly.
One thing I love about the DSSD is the fact that the base of the hands have a larger diameter and therefore does a much better job of covering up this 'flaw' when compared to Subs. |

Sorry, I'm not going to stick my head in the sand and say, "Well...it's good enough..." no reason we, as the customer, can't demand perfection when it comes to the dial appearance...I've got to think anyone that thinks this feature is appropriate probably wouldn't mind picking up a new car from the dealership w/ a major dent on the hood. |
