Does size matter?
My wife is looking to change her 26 mm date just for something bigger. Has had it 8 years and times and fashions have changed, and she is hankering after something larger and more up to date!
Been into AD today and she tried on a mid size and also 34 mm date just. She has a 26 mm white dial at the moment, and loves the white dial - would love the same dial on a larger size, but Rolex don't do the same arabic dial anymore. Also with regards to bracelet - should she go Jubilee or Oyster with the polished central links? Is the jubilee old fashioned these days? She is not keen on anything too "bling" and would not go with any coloured dials or diamonds I hope!!!! What is most fashionable at the moment? She is 5ft 6" tall and a UK size 8-10 (US 4-6), with average size wrists for a girl. Classic in the way she dresses and looking for a watch for both casual and for going out/dress occasions. Not wanting to go too big, so guess the sport models are out, so looking at date just models. What do you think guys? |

No need to change as long as she likes what she has now. However if she really wants to go bigger then I say go for it.
I just bought a Super Jubilee last monrth for my GMTII, I think its a great look. There again have her get whatever she likes the most, she's going to be wearing it.

Just my opinion, but I feel that Rolex is sought after because they are timeless & for the most part don't follow trends. That said, I would go for a 36mm Datejust with a white dial & jubilee bracelet.

My wife has a mans datejust and fits her fine. She wants to wear my sub but I wont let her so now she wants to get a blue TT sub. She has relatively big hands so can get away with the bigger watches.

depends
My wife won't wear anything larger than the 26mm Rolex, but all my daughters ( 16 to 23 ) won't wear anything less than the 40mm subs that I gave them ( 14060M 2 lines and sub LV )

My suggestion would be to have her keep the 26mm watch, and get an additional Rolex. My wife has a 29mm Yachtmaster that she wears on some occasions, and then a 36mm Turn o Graph with a white dial that she wears on other occasions.
It depends on her mood, which friends she will be with, the way she is dressing, etc.

About one year ago we bought my wife (who has a similar build to the descriptions you give for your wife) a 31mm white dial with romans. It has jubilee bracelet with fluted bezel. She loves everything about it and had previously worn the 26mm. I can't tell you how many times we have admired how pretty it looks on her. It is big enough to look current but does not overpower her wrist. She was torn between all the questions you are now facing. We definitely think the jubilee looks fantastic and a touch more feminine, at least on her. Hope this helps. Good luck on your decision.

Been out shopping with the wife today and to throw in a curve ball, she tried on a Explorer II White dial. Looked gorgeous! But she is a bit scared that going to 40 mm is a bit too big, although the sales assistant in the AD (female) was wearing a Sub and loves it!
Tried on a mid size jubilee fluted bezel DJ and also a 36 mm DJ - both with White roman numeral dials. Bit confused now, but she thinks she may regret the mid size if she went for it as she thinks if she wants bigger she might as well go for it! |
