If Rolex releases a reference in Titanium, would you go for it? I think it will help those who are allergic to nickel

I agree with you vernon. I think that people who are allergic will buy it but it. If the watch would look good i would also buy it.

Ahh, a titanium watch on a NATO -- super light!

That's one reason why I love my titanium Tissot T-Touch with rubber strap. The thing is so light I don't even realize it's there.

The only downfall -- titanium doesn't resist scratching as well as SS.

Depends on the design aesthetics of the watch. I'm not really against the weight or the finish of titanium, but it would have to look REALLY nice.

This is the part I don't understand. Titanium is suppose to be tougher than steel. Had a friend done a demo to me years back on his titanium handlebar on his mountain bike, it's satin finished, he scrapped it with a 10 cents coin and guess what? No scratches on the titanium bar and the coin? It flatted out!

Wonder why it's not the same on watches? Probably different grade??

Very odd.

I would never have thought such a thing possible from Ti. Don't get me wrong, it isn't as soft as gold, but definitely not that durable.

Again, maybe the grades are different, but I dunno. My watch will show scratches easily. The clasp which is Ti as well is rubbed to **** and it's hard to tell that it was ever polished. No biggie since I consider it a true sports watch.

If Rolex released a titanium watch, it would be a shock to the system.
I would buy one as long as it was 6AL4V, that 3AL2.5V stuff just doesn't cut it.
Rolex have in fact been experimenting with Titanium.

I'm more than happy with the 904L that Rolex uses today. Why bother introducing titanium when they are already using the best stainless steel money can buy?

So Rolex makes watches in 904L SS...and the sports models start at about $5K...give or take. Can you imagine what the range would start at if actually used Ti??? I would guess that prices would start about 20-30% higher. Not sure if people really want to buy a Ti. Sub for $6500 or more just yet...
As for Ti scratching...I've never read that it's harder than steel...but I have read that it is stronger and yet lighter than the same volume of steel.

All In all...I woldn't buy it. I prefer the weight of 904L SS.

Rolex could go CERAMIC with their cases, too.

Consider that Rolex already has introduced ceramics on the bezel, and IWC has the "Doppelchronograph" in ceramics, as well.

Not at all problmchylde, I love my blue faced smp ti to bits!

Maybe someone in this forum could photoshopped the greyish hue of titanium onto a seadweller or submariner..
