Icon7 Count your blessings

I know its kind of sappy and this is Rolex related...... I have my eye on another Rolex (details when I get it!!!!) and planning a weekend trip to pick her up. Getting excited!

Had some eye opening stuff going on recently and it makes you stop and think.... I'll try and be brief.

This weekend my family did a walk for cancer to raise some money. Its amazing to hear the survival stories and the sad stories of loss, both within my own family and from others.

I had a buddy of mine stop by to pick up my lawn mower and snow blower. He does small engine repair on the side. I haven't seen him in a while. He's out of work now and his wife has alzheimer's so he has to pay for day care and he takes care of her 100%.

My wife and I both work to provide our nice home and lifestyle. My brother has 4 kids on one income and he is struggling.

My parents retired 2 years ago just when the market crashed and they are not living the way they planned their lives.

I gave my wife an extra big hug last night and called my mom to say hi.

I just stopped dead in my tracks last night..... sitting on TRF discussing a new Rolex and making plans to go buy it, while all around me is suffering.

I am glad to help my buddy even a little by giving him some work. I appreciate my own family every chance I get.

Maybe I'm not expressing my feelings correctly and that's ok. Its not guilt over such an expenditure, but a warm feeling that I am able to do so. My life is far from perfect, but I have good health and happiness and a wife that loves me enough to buy me a Daytona for my 10 year anniversary a few years back which brought me in to this sickness we call WIS.

Think happy thoughts folks. Appreciate it every day.

Great post!

Its important to think of the bigger picture, and one should do it often...like every week. We made the decision years ago to have my wife stay home with our children...yep, one must live leaner, but I wouldnt change a thing.

do what you can, when you can, for others who do not have as good a life as you do.

but do not feel too guilty about pampering yourself if you have worked hard for it. there are lots of poor souls out there, either because of the the circumstances they live in or the decisions they make.

Good post. I just lost my business partner of nearly 19 years. She was diagnosed with cancer in June 2010 and, although she put up a terrific fight, she passed away on August 18, 2011. She was 43 years old. Her youngest son turned 9 years old two days before she died.

Just after her passing, I bought my 1st Rolex: SS Black sub. Always wanted one, but never quite able to justify the cost. Her passing made me realize that once you have everything you need, get the things you want. I don't ever want to look back and have any reqrets.
