Both are great watches, but if you already have a Daytona get Sub ND

Speedy can be had for about half the price of the sub. Something to think about. Both are great watches. Owned both, but only the speedy remains in the collection.

I've never been a Sub fan and love the Speedy Pro. (I have two.)
But you already have a chronograph so I would opt for the Sea-Dweller which I consider to be THE Rolex diver: My 2˘. Fr. John† |

I think you should buy which ever watch speaks to you most. Have you tried on both styles? Since you're asking though, I'd go with the Sub. Solid durable performer. Best of luck on your decision and keep us posted.

Thanks for all the good advice, I am leaning towards the Sub ND now. Just want to finalise some more details...

I know very few people who have ever regretted the Speedmaster. It's the one watch I keep coming back to.

I'm a huge fan of both watches and I hope to own both sometime in the near future, but I would probably go Speedy since it's so iconic (not that the sub isn't by any means).

With all due respect, the Omega is indeed iconic, but the Sub is probably THE most iconic watch ever made. Many people, watch enthusiasts and non enthusiasts alike, will recognize a Rolex Submariner, but, very few people other than a watch enthusiast would know what a Speedy is.

Why wear a watch that the bag boy at the grocery store wears when you can wear a watch that Armstrong wore on the moon? No other watch has the history and mystery of the Speedy Pro. (I currently have two Speedies in my collection - one being the same model worn by Armstrong and other moon walkers.) Personally, I chose the Speedy Pro over the Daytona but the OP already has the Daytona so he might as well keep it. Quote:

Which, in my mind, makes the Speedmaster that much more special. Those in the know ( which are not that many)....know. A pure enthusiast's watch.

I have both. My first was a new Speedmaster Professional. A year later I purchased a new Submariner (2-line). I love them both.
If I were forced to get rid of one, it would be a difficult choice, but I would sell the Submariner and keep the Speedmaster Pro. My reasoning would be like a few here have mentioned: "You don't see many of them in the wild." I like that fact. Either watch is a an icon and you cannot go wrong with either. Good luck.

I'd definitely lean toward the SD or Sub ND over the Omega. Esp since you already have a chrono in the Daytona. Good luck!

I have the 14060M, and have owned the Speedmaster twice. While I often miss the Speedmaster, I have never thought "I wish I would've gotten a Speedmaster instead of the Sub." The Sub is just too essential. The Speedmaster is a nice watch to have--maybe the world's best second watch--but to me, not essential. Hopefully I'll own the Speedmaster again someday, but if the choice is Sub or Speedy, I'd take the Sub.

If neither watch has a date feature, then definitely keep the Speedy!

Each of these watches has its own merits...it's not really fair to make a decision based on pictures and our opinions. When I got my sd almost 2 yrs ago I was fortunate enough to try on and hold the sd alongside a sub nd. The sd's bezel is about 50% thicker than the sub, this alone gives the sd a unique side profile and the lugs are just beautiful. For me it was then an easy choice. You really need to see them in the flesh.
The speedy pro is a classic must have and funny enough I finally picked one up myself today and wearing it as I type. They are relatively easy to pick up so perhaps get one later...the matt black dial is just awesome and yep I hardly see them in the wild. |

So, after a few months of backing and forthing I finally got the Speedmaster.
I really like the slightly bigger face (vs Daytona) and the black face makes it easier to read, also, the lume seems to be better than the Daytona. I just have to get used to winding it up! Problem now is that I still want the Submariner :( Guess I will have to save a bit more and look for one in 6 months or so. |

You made a good choice - either watch would have been a winner.
I wind my Speedy everyday whether I wear it that day or not. It is one of life's simple pleasures. BTW, despite the claims of some in this thread the Speedy is water resistant. Even Omega says it can get wet. See the Omega chart here: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=35860

Give the SD another thought. It would be a nice match to your Daytona.

Either choice was a winner. Congrats
Now your upcoming search for a Sub will complete your picture of timepiece nirvana.

Good choice. Although you need a non-chrono now...
