Vintage Panerai 3646 with California Dial and Rolex movement ad in WSJ
just saw an ad for this in today's wall street journal, thought I'd share. I'm assuming it's pretty rare to see one for sale.
Here's the link http://jewelry.1stdibs.com/jewelry_i...l.php?id=46074

Really? That's a shame. What's aftermarket/modified?

This does not look right. The bridge isn't signed Rolex. The case back is not engraved correctly either-
Here's a beautiful example available below. I wish I had the spare cash :( http://www.network54.com/Forum/20767...h+Company+Case

Alright just called back. This time I spoke with the owner. The watch is a 3646 type C. I was told this explains the unmarked movement and unusual caseback. The price is about average to what a proper vintage Panerai goes for.
*Forgot. The owner mentioned the piece was once auctioned by a well known Auctioneer. I found this site that shows an unsigned movement but signed caseback. I have also seen signed movement with unsigned caseback. This piece may be 100% but I think I would personally only buy a piece that was signed http://panerai.watchprosite.com/?sho...&ti=463631&s=0
