Rolex 1680 dials put in Tudor 79090's
I read somewhere on another site someone discussing swapping out their Tudor 79090 dial and replacing it with a Rolex 1680 one. Is that even possible, the cases are the same and both are dates but would the ETA accept the 1680 dial? If so it makes me wonder how many of those are floating out there.

I donīt believe itīs that simple! Donīt know if the dial fits, different feet positions? Even if it did, you need a Rolex case back to complete the disguise.
Rolex and Tudor serial # dosenīt match, so the serial # would be a dead giveaway anyhow......to a WIS

I'm sure it's been tried. That's why it's always important to buy the seller and preform the proper due diligence before the sale.

Congrats about what?
To the OP's question, I'm far from an expert but I don't think it would be possible to successfully or correctly install a 1680 dial in a Tudor case. But I've been wrong one or two other times in my life...

The feet positions that is what I was thinking also. I agree it wouldn't stand up to scrutiny.

why would you ruin a 79090 and possibly a 1680 dial. i think tht these items are worth more apart than together. it totally would delegitimize the watch and the dial.
however, i am curious to know the answer. there is no way that the ETA movement has the same feet position as the rolex movement. |

ETA datewheel has a different font from the Rolex one, which will be a dead giveaway that it's been faked

A Rolex dial will not fit a ETA without serious modifications. There is guys that cut the feets and glue it on.
