I loaded it on my son's ipod touch, but I am home today so I have not done my adopted iPhone. That's still tied to my old laptop which lives permanently in my filing cabinet now.

Good so far.

BTW, anyone who had error code 1303 when trying to do the recommended backup just before install, this seems to have solved it for most. If you're like some of us and had to make a symbolic link to point the applebackup directory to another drive b/c stupid iTunes doesn't let you chose a backup location and INSISTS on using the C: drive, then here's how you fix/work around it:

https://discussions.apple.com/thread...rt=15&tstart=0

I'm at work but will try it at home. After all, it is a nuisance just to get my iPhone to sync to another computer; God forbid!!!

I love Apple's hardware but HATE their software - they make it so difficult to problem solve issues. I have to say I haven't had anything near this frustrating in the past 10 years w/ my PCs as I've had with this update. Not only from lack of any issues, but when issues have come up, they're MUCH easier to trouble shoot.

iOS 5 is good but I cant see a huge change on my Ipad2.

iCloud seems to be the biggest difference but at least for me it doesn't make a huge difference.

Nevertheless it is all working well.

Notifications (with the exception of the missing unread emails count icon on the lock screen), very nice iCloud, the Safari Reader, FINALLY a user customizable email tone (!!), a couple great camera improvements (direct access from the lock screen by double clicking the home button, + volume shutter release, pinch to zoom), iMessage ... those are very nice additions and well worth the upgrade, not to mention that it seems to have improved performance of my iPhone 4 ...

My list of misses is pretty small:

-the lack of a stupid unread email count on the lock screen
-direct access to the EQ settings from the music player
-turn by turn navigation, easily remedied by the free Skobbler which works very well (at least in the US).

I wasn't that impressed yesterday, but after using it for a day ... I am a happy camper.

I have an iPad2 but not an iPhone or Apple TV.

Is this software part of Apple's grand plan that once you buy one of their products you have to buy a series of their products to get the benefits. Buy the iPad, upgrade software, buy the iPhone, get Apple TV, upgrade the software, buy the new iPhone, buy the new iPad3 and so on and so on and so on.....

My main work package is Microsoft Word.

My question is can I put Microsoft word .docx on iCloud? And if I can can I edit/view those .docx documents on my iPad2?

If I can do that easily I would be so happy

I think it's called synergy. Product one does everything they claim it does. Product two does everything they claim it does. Products one and two together do a few more things.

Custom vibrate alerts, VERY NICE. Now when my wife texts I get .--. vibrated (morse code "P" for her first initial). Etc.

Did my iPhone 4 this am, didn't notice too much difference besides certain colors on texts and apps. Just did my iPad and like how there are tabs no for Internet sites. Still discovering more...

Two things I'm disappointed about with iOS5

1. There is STILL no way to cancel ALL apps running in the backround. You still have to go though, and manually close each one. A bit if a PITA if you have tons open in the backround.

2. They took away in "recents" in "phone" where before you could tap the upper right button and clear the entire list of callers out. Now, you have to manually delete each caller from the "recents" list. I really dislike that.

I don't get how Apple is so sophisticated with all the wiz-bang technology, yet they don't even support the Blu-Ray standard discs

I know, its because you have to download your movies from iTunes.

I'm sure there are work arounds, but it becomes terribly tiresome having to burn this copy that, connect to the internet put it in the cloud and download it, reformat etc. etc.

Just finished my iPad ... I had to do it 4 or 5 times since it kept telling me that it needed to be restored ... but I am good now ... I am on iPad 1 and it definitely improved performance. All in all I am very pleased with the upgrade. Lots of new goodies to play with!
